Demo is garbage. I downloaded the demo the same day I got Xeno Blade. Save your money for Xeno Blade way better game. All I could think of while playing the demo of FF was that I would rather be playing Xeno Blade lol. The Battle system in Xeno Blade is Action oriented and alot more fun with positional moves, kind of plays like Secret of Mana or an MMO. It has skill trees to customize your character and team with. FF feels so static and boring with its auto battle pardigem shift spam I don't feel involved at all. Xeno Blade has a cutesy charm to it and the world is fantasy with only a dash of sci fi which is more what I am used to. The world is wide open and expansive in Xeno Blade and you are actually living on a giant being like a titan which is a neat twist. Voice acting is good. The characters are likeable too.

Just buy Xeno Blade

SE JRPG? -10 cool points
non-SE JRPG? +15 cool points

Not sure if I understand what your point is with that post. Mine is that playing the two side by side Xeno Blade is more fun. Im no SE hater.

Perfect in definately subjective. I'm still gonna go with Bethesda's TES series as being perfect in the storyline department though :P for now :)

Whut? Even among die-hard TES's fan, storyline department was far from perfect. They have a perfect and believable open world setting, but not the story itself.

And Morrowind/Skyrim "ending" are anti-climax. A naked man with a big Mask fell down to the chasm, or a less-generic Dragon that silently died off without most people in the region even know about.

Hence why I'm agreeing with LeBarge. Perfection is subjectional. What on might think is the cats meow, another thinks is mediocre. It's a matter of personal preference. As far as magazine ratings go, I trust the people who deal with the ratings as far as I can throw them. I prefer hearing from players.

The only system I see Xeno Blade for is Wii. Unfortunately, I don't have one, or I'd compare them.

Also, Gamespot says it comes out in April. Are you playing the JP version??

I find that a written review is a good starting place. Basing a purchase solely on that can be disastrous though.

didn't read the whole thread to see if anyone addressed this but you can download xenogears on to PSP

I'm surprised they can do that, I had thought that SE did not own the IP for Xenogears anymore after the development team moved to Monolith. Though I suppose they did specifically mention that Xenosaga was not a sequel because of company IP issues, so I guess they probably did not take the Xeno IP with them.

Yeah, I have no idea - but here it is on the store

I don't have it yet. I picked up FF 6 and 7 last time I grabbed a PS network cash card.

Yeah, I have no idea

Japan, like the US, goes by the work-for-hire doctrine - i.e. if you are being paid to create IP (either as an employee or as an independent contractor), the people paying own the IP, not you. They were Square employees when they made Xenogears, so Square owns the IP, even after everyone involved in its production leaves the company. Its the same reason Tri-Ace doesn't own the Tales franchise.

2011 is over. So let's look back at last year and suss out what the ten biggest games in Japan were.

Japanese sales tracker Media Create tracked the sales for the period between Jan. 3, 2011 and Jan. 1, 2012.

Here goes:

10. Wii Sports Resort Wii: 579,220
9. Dragon Quest Mosnters: Joker 2 Professional DS: 602,664
8. Tales of Xillia PS3: 627,346
7. Rhythm Heaven Wii: 654,403
6. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd PSP: 682,651
5. Final Fantasy XIII-2 PS3: 704,236
4. <em.Final Fantasy Type-0 PSP: 746,203
3. Monster Hunter 3G 3DS: 985,498
2. Super Mario 3D Land 3DS: 1,080,192
1. Mario Kart 7 3DS: 1,160,169

Notice it's missing the 360 numbers, so likely around 800K. Still not millions, but I'd like to see this months numbers when we get to Feb as that will show whether word of mouth redeemed the game or not.

I wish they would release type zero for PSP in NA... or have they and I somehow missed it?

Nope..

Quote:
THE BUZZ: One of the big names in this last era of major PSP releases is Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Type-0, and many have wondered if the game would be seeing release outside of Japan or not.

In the new Final Fantasy Type-0 Ultimania guide released this week, we actually get confirmation that it will indeed be coming our way. When asked about the future of the series, Type-0 producer Yoshinori Kitase mentions that the team is currently working on the overseas version of the game.

EGM’s TAKE: The big question now isn’t if Final Fantasy Type-0 will come to North America, but how. Square Enix’s recent PSP releases haven’t done gangbusters on our shores, due to the fact that—unfortunately—the PSP itself is in a sorry state in our country. (Opposed to Japan, where the handheld still flourishes.)

A UMD release seems crazy and out of the question, especially due to the fact that the game will no doubt be launching near or after the release of the PS Vita. A digital-only release could happen, but that seems terribly low-key for such a major Square Enix title.

My theory? SE is working on an upscaled Vita version of the game. Make the game prettier, add an extra features or two, and then you can sell it as a major full-priced Vita release. Plus, you’d then get to re-release the game in Japan—a country where game publishers love re-releasing the same game over and over again, each time adding one or two new features here and there.

If they don't release a PSP version for NA I will have a fit. I don't want the Vita, period, and the sales of that handheld have been anemic (for a lot of good reasons)- so if they want to actually sell games they would be smart to do a PSP release.

I'd rather it was a PS3 download and able to be played on any of the 3 systems... but I'd rather be a millionaire and I'm not, so....

Bah, too bad. I read the review, and it does sound pretty good. That being said, I wouldn't necessarily forsake one game for another. If I had a Wii, I'd probably just wind up buying both of them ;)

yeah, I find it weird that they don't allow any (and all) of the games avail for download for PSP also playable on PS3. It just opens up the market for gaming companies. I mean, I guess if they have plans to try to sell it separately to the other system then they might lose out - but I somehow think the number of people who would buy the game twice (once for each system) is lower than the number of people on PS3 who would buy a game made for PSP to play on the PS3, if they don't have the handheld system.

Eh... pretty silly.

That said, there is at least one feature of type zero which probably wouldn't work on PS3 - and that's the fact that you can get exp if the game is in your system while it is turned off - you get exp while it is in sleep mode.

While I never leave my PSP in sleep mode, I often neglect my PS3 whilst powered on, surely its an easy re-coding... wait nevermind ^.^

I would chime in here and discuss my favorite electronics being left on, but due to SOPA, I am a bit worried about stating the companies name in a public forum such as this, especially since the maker of these fine products supports SOPA and PIPA

I tried the demo on the PS3 over the weekend and I really don't think it's the game for me. I liked that there were people to interact with more but that was about the only clear improvement I noticed (not saying there weren't others, just that was the only one that really seems to be improved enough for me to remember it). The girl whined a lot. Thought it was funny once or twice as she complained about her hair getting wet but then it was old. She also makes me think of Hope and that's not a good thing.

I am kind of interested in the story (since I felt the first one left so much unanswered) so I may pick it used from GameStop if the price is low enough.
