I saw Alfgar in his usual place in Gridania this morning, not far from the Adventurers' Guild, but this was new.. He directed me down to the airship dock, where there was another NPC, and surprisingly, an aetherial gate to use.

Alfgar: Hear me, one and all! Religious sects are on the rise, empowered by the fear festering within men's hearts! Ware you their twisting of holy doctrine and unscrupulous undertakings!

Alfgar: Have you heard of the Lambs of Dalamud, friend? They're a doomsday cult that have been making their presence sorely felt in recent moons. No other group do more than they to sow the seeds of fear among the masses. To hear them speak of it, one would be forgiven for thinking the Seventh Umbral Era had already begun.

Alfgar: As you may have gleaned from the name, the cultists worship the lesser moon Dalamud, whom they believe will deliver the chosen─that's themselves, of course─from the destruction to come. Sounds harmless enough, you say? Aye, save for the dark rumors circulating about them abducting townsfolk to offer as sacrifices to their god.

Alfgar: A distraught-looking fellow has been scouring every corner of the town of late, claiming the Lambs of Dalamud have made off with his daughter. The poor soul was wandering around the airship landing when last I saw him. If you're not otherwise occupied, mayhap you could lend an ear to his tale.

...

Addison: H-Help me! It's me daughter! She's been taken! <gasp> Somebody, help me! Please!

Addison: Help me, I beg ye! An evil cult's made off with me daughter! We was passin' this way, mindin' our own business, when a mob callin' 'emselves the Lambs of Dalamud came up an' snatched her!

Addison: I made to fight the bastards, but they conjured up an aetherial node an' escaped, crowin' all the while about how they was goin' to sacrifice me dear girl to Dalamud!

Addison: Gods know I would've given chase if it weren't for me blasted hip! I beg ye, kind adventurer! Go through the node an' save me daughter! Please! If I lose her, there'll be nothin' left me in this world! Nothin' worth a ****! <sob>

Simply gazing upon the aetherial node fills you with dread. You are certain that a formidable evil lies in wait beyond.(Recommended level: 45)

Milburh: Please, help me! For the love of the Twelve, somebody help!

Milburh: You! A-Adventurer! Cultists kidnapped me and brought me here! They call themselves the Lambs of Dalamud, and they mean to sacrifice me! Please, the ritual will begin at any moment─you must help me escape!

Milburh: Wait... Gods know I want nothing more than to flee this accursed place and never look back. But how could I live with myself, knowing some other poor girl will be chosen to die instead of me?

Milburh: What can I do, though? I've never even held a sword....But you...you're different. You could put an end to this horror. It's a lot to ask, I know...but think of all the innocent lives you'd be saving!

Milburh: I knew the Twelve wouldn't abandon me! Thank you, adventurer! Now, I'm sure some of the cultists I mentioned will be arriving shortly. You'd best see to your preparations.

Milburh: Please take care when confronting the cult. Who knows what they're capable of!?

You are now bound by duty.

After awhile, mobs spawned, all named Lunatic Follower.

After waves of (I think) 2-3 each, one popped saying this:

Lunatic Priest: O Mighty Dalamud! Pray accept this humble offering of heathen blood!

It just seemed to have more HP, and once this "boss" one died, it was over. A treasure box with a few alchemy potions was the reward, and an aetherial gate back to Gridania.

Escape from the Sil'dih Aqueducts
Coyohma Aerra (Rabanastre) has walked into a trap set up by the Lambs of Dalamud, a ruthless doomsday cult, but was able to overpower the cultists and escape from the Sil'dih Aqueducts.

Edit - I just read about someone getting "Escape from Mistbeard Cove" as well.

I'm surprised no one posted on this. Is this just in Gridania or all three nations?

Edit: Apparently so. This happens approximately every hour and you can find the aetherial point in the east of Sapphire Exchange in Ul'dah, the bottom of the airship docks in Gridania, or the chocobo stable in LL.

Just curious because I don't want to read the spoilers, but is there substantial lore/story plot to these events, or will it just be like the random NPCs that pop up at camps telling you some foreboding ****?

Yeah, it seems to be an evolving thing going on with the Umbral Era storyline. It's never mentioned in the patch notes, but the events change every patch.

As far as I know it started with GMs warning about the disaster in 1.17, Empire attacks in the three level 20 camps in 1.18, Imperial Generals running around camps and Camp glory attacks in 1.19, and now this.
