Please Help Reduce Game Window Size Really SmallFollow

Hi guys,

I see in ffxiv config that the lowest res settings are 1024x768. but I can't minimize the actual "windowed" game any smaller. My ideal goal is to have it in a small window in the corner of my screen so I can do things like craft while I work. Can anyone help with this?

thanks

Maybe it's not an option for you but what I've done in the past is use a dual monitor set up.

Rinsui while I appreciate the smirk comment, it's really none of your business what I do at work or while I am not at work. I own my own business therefore if I want to have a game going in the background I can do so.

Thanks for offering nothing even remotely helpful to this thread.

is THIS what you want to do?

if so it's a fairly easy thing to do. just drop the resolution set game to windowed and disbale window management in the control panel. (that stupid thing that maximises a window if you drag it to the edge of the screen and prevents resizing)

but it kinda sounds like thats what your trying to do

You could also edit the game's registry settings, and there's a default width and height value (if I remember correctly). Just make sure you know what you're doing. Do a little research on google for ffxiv registry resolution or something. The registry is fairly fragile; change the wrong settings in the wrong app and you could bork your computer. With that being said, going as low level as the registry should give you what you want. Let me know what you find out on how to solve this!

I started making a program that set window size & position based off what I already made from my fullscreener program. I can make it go to whatever size & position I want, but I can't make it always stay on top just yet(the ability to do so would make it alot better IMO). If you want it as is, without staying on top, lemme know, otherwise I'll keep tinkering.

As was mentioned, you can change registry settings for the game to make it run any resolution you want, if youve ever played FFXI, youve probably done this.

If you download my windower @ http://ffxiv-app.com/products/winmod/ you can.

You need .NET4.0

Instructions:
Unzip the file into it's own folder all by itself.
Right-click the "Launcher.exe.config" file and "Open with" notepad (you might have to click choose another)

Edit the following setting:
<setting name="FullScreen" serializeAs="String">
<value>True</value>
</setting>

Make it "False"

Change these settings:
<setting name="MaxX" serializeAs="String">
<value>1920</value>
</setting>
<setting name="MaxY" serializeAs="String">
<value>1080</value>
</setting>

Make them 1024 for X and 768 for Y.

There's two more settings: (just make sure they point to the right spot.)
<setting name="Game" serializeAs="String">
<value>C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV\ffxivgame.exe</value>
</setting>
<setting name="Launch" serializeAs="String">
<value>C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV\ffxivboot.exe</value>
</setting>

Save and close that. (I'll add it as an option later :P)

Make sure your config for ffxiv is set to windowed.

Double click "Launcher", sign-in and have fun. This will allow you to resize the window freely (not locked) so you could have it 10 pixels wide and 500 high, but it will stretch and distort the **** out of it :) If you want an even size screen you could do this:

In ffxiv's config make it 1024/768

In my config make it whatever X you want, and than for y make it [(x/4)*3] e.g. X = 800, so it's "(800/4)*3) = 600"

happy gaming :)

Mine has one as well just not as advanced because that will edit files and such, I'd rather not do it until I understand the patterns more ^^, In a new update I'll make it so the config screen always loads and from there you click launcher, I made mine to auto launch for now :D

The evo one is great as well, not sure on xfire/sli for it but LS mates claim they are getting working crossfire/sli with mine :)

They could be mistaken however...

Dzian,

Yes that is what I want to do...only smaller. I'd like it to be about half that size in the corner of my screen. How do I disable window management?

Thanks
