I just purchased the PC download from the FFXIV site and tried to download the game via Steam. It says the product key I copy/pasta'd from the email is invalid. I am following the directions exactly... any suggestions?

While I have not tried the download myself is the game even able to be activated on Steam? I would assume they give you a link to download the client and then you make your account with the CD Key given.

I figured it out. I was just being dumb. It's not downloaded from Steam, it's downloaded from another link. I just didn't read the email very carefully the first time.

Started today at 10:30 AM with a pile of parts from NewEgg. Took 4 hrs to put together my new computer. Took a few more hours to install OS, drivers, download antivirus, port over important contents of old PC etc.

Currently 11:25 PM- XIV download has about 2 hrs to go. Gonna run to Wal-Mart to buy a controller. If I can stay awake, I will subscribe sometime early this morning and be making my character on Selbina.

Pretty **** excited. Have several friends awaiting my arrival. Life is good.

Nice to see someone excited. I hope you stick around long enough for the PS3 release. :)

I hope you don't spend your next day trying to figure out how to use "click-n-cry" to pay for the subscription.

Actually, I did use click and pay and it took me all of about 6 minutes to set it up. I didn't have any issues. Sadly, this response will probably make many of the trolls who lurk here very angry, but hey, all I can tell you is that my experience, which, including billing (click and pay), has been positive thus far. Sorry for the good news... Smiley: rolleyes

Glad your experience so far has been positive. Be sure to pick a very populated server (lots of chocobos) and find a linkshell ASAP.
