And I just wanted to know how the current players feel about the progress of the game since official launch.I played FF11,and loved it,and Im looking forward to playing 14 also.So heres a few questions I had in mind.
1.PVP:Does it exist, and if so is it balanced.
2.Are the jobs and classes even remotely similar to ff11
3.Do you have major offtime/down servers/maintenance often.
4.Im going to be playing on pc,but can I transfer my toon to PS3 when/if the game comes Dec this year.

Thanks...

PVP isn't there yet, I don't remember the timeline, but if you look at the sticky for planned updates, I believe it's in there...

The jobs haven't come out yet, that will be sometime in February. Class-wise, they are similar to 11 when the game was introduced.

you have your DDs: Lnc, Pug, Arc, Mrd
You have your Tanks: Gla, Mrd
You have your Magic DD: Thm
You have your Healer: Con

3. Nope, they are averaging about 1 update a month, with 2-4 hour down time (usually closer to 2 hours), and they tend to spread the pain as to when they are doing it (lately I want to say they have been more towards 2-7pn CST, but I am usually at work, so I don't notice).

4. yes, it will act the same as 11. Your account is bound to your log-in, not to your system. So, if they get all their systems out, you will be able to login on your PC, PS3 and Theoretically the PSPVita...

I can't speak for anyone else, but my current feeling about the progress of the game since launch is this:

FFXIV is not salvagable at the current rate of progress.

1. No and it probably wouldn't be if it did.
2. Currently the jobs are only somewhat comparable to those of FFXI, but this is allegedly going to change once the advanced jobs are released sometime in the near future + two weeks later due to unforseen delays.
3. The only offtime has been voluntary so far.
3. Probably. And people don't take kindly to those who say "toon" in these parts.

At least "toon" is more bearable than the abbreviations I've seen for the word "character". Now that grates on my nerves like you wouldn't believe.

PS: "Toon" has existed since before WoW. I heard it most while playing RO and Lineage II.

Oh I am sure the term has existed, however, the only time I hear of people cringing they usually refer to WoW :P I was just trying to goof around with the OP. I honestly could care less what he refers to his avatar as :P Character, toon, mini-me. w/e. It's a bunch of pixels used to help us escape reality in a fun way :P Call it what you will :)

As for your questions I can't answer them better, but I believe the term "character" is more widely used in the FF community since in FFXI (and now FFXIV) you only had one (main).

Hence the preffered "character" over "toon", as it probably sound more "real" to the players, ie. more bonding to pixels. This is just me rambling by the way. And ye, "toon" sound kinda childish...
