Edit: I tried all of the suggestions given (with the exception of a new GPU), but what ultimately worked was completely uninstalling all of my graphics drivers and reinstalling (again). Just wanted to update this post in case anyone else had this issue.

Hey all!

This is my first time back on the forums and FFXIV since about nine months or so ago. I figured I'd take a look around and see what has changed. So far, I like what I see. I've just had one problem that's been bugging me like crazy...

I keep getting stuck around Limsa. I'm assuming it's on the edges of loaded areas and non loaded areas. It happens mostly in in the upper decks around 7-6 and 7-7. I get stuck on the brigdes and in doorways, but it looks like the area ahead of me has yet to load (chunks of the bridges and buildings in the area ahead of me are missing). I can only spin my character when I get stuck. I can still chat, pull up my menu, see others moving, etc... I can teleport, and that seems to unstick me. With how often it happens, I'll run out of anima quickly.

Also, (I don't know if this is related...) I can't seem to get to the airship docks from the crow's lift. I had been up there when I first hopped on and went exploring, but I can't now. I keep getting stuck with a black screen with the chat log and hp/mp/exp bars visible.

Anyone else run into this? Any tips or suggestions?

Computer specs:
Cpu: i7 950
RAM: 6gigs DDR3
Gpu: Nvidia GeForce GTX 465
mobo: gigabyte X58A-UD3R
Psu: Antec 750W

My connection is fine (hard line to cable router), and I've updated my drivers.
Any and all help is appreciated!

What HDD do you have the game installed on? Is it more than 60% full?

Excessive background programs running?

Try lowering your settings, if it still does it then you can lean away from a page file size or memory deficiency...

I'm surprised you're running a 465 considering the rest of your system is/was pretty top notch.

i had an issue where the game would do this sometimes and also id have an error and shutdown in an any beastmen camp in the game and only those spots. i had to reinstall to fix the problem. you may be having a problem where a certain peice of code when loading the citys isnt loading like a file for the floor for example and your left on a surface you cant move on. i suggest reinstalling the game updating all drivers for video cards and if those 2 things dont work find the weak spot of your system and upgrade it.

Thanks for the suggestions!

To Perrin:
I have the game installed on a WD 1Tb. It's just over 60% full. I guess it's time to move all of my completed projects over to the external! I'll lower the settings too, just in case.

I built the system for FFXIV. I figured I could get top notch for the basics then upgrade everything else when I had the money to do so. I just haven't had the extra money to throw into a new gpu, but plan to do so soon!

To darkheavenx:
I'll save reinstalling for last. Video drivers were the first thing I checked. Always want to keep those up-to-date! Ultimately, if the problem persists after I've tried the suggestions you guys gave, I think it will be time to replace my gpu.

Thanks again to both of you!

I'd go the reinstall route before the new GPU route, prices should be dropping pretty soon as Nvidia and AMD are both hurting a bit in mass sales... though I wouldn't expect a major drop, you might catch a good sale at Newegg or whatever.

Yes, sorry. I meant that as saving reinstalling for last out of the list of things I'd try before getting a new gpu. I should have typed it that way. @_@;

I've been checking on Newegg. They had a ton of after christmas sales that I would have jumped on (darn you money! ...and comic sans!). Hoping to see a decent drop/awesome sale in the next few months. I can feel my pocket burning just thinking about it.

Thanks again, Perrin!
