Should i Wait for rerelease?Follow

From everything I am hearing on the boards looks like ff 14 as of now is not so enjoyable. I played FF 11 so maybe my expectations will be high.

How enjoyable is the game now? And what changes will they be making for the rerealease on 2013?

I was thinking of upgrading my graphics card or even buying a new tower altogether, but if it's going to be a mediocre experience I would rather hold off.

I do hope they try to make it more like FF 11.

I honestly would wait until 2.0 release.

FFXIV will be a different game at 2.0, supposedly. Also, many players are 40+ and so it would be hard for you to get a party possibly if you aren't the type that likes to solo/duo. Many like myself who have played, are awaiting 2.0 to return.

However, I am sure there are others who would disagree with me.

Ok here are the numbers from yesterday. It seems population has dipped to around 11.5k during weekends and for the first time in FFXIV history, it finally dipped below 10k players logged in during weekdays. Again these numbers are a snapshot during Japan evening prime time hours. This time they separated them by language which usually does not happen.

I am a bit confused but I have seen a couple of recent threads on other forums with people stating that there are around 17k folks logged in simultaneously and/or that to find parties in FFXIV should still be "relatively easy" below level 40. I am not sure if they are just trolling or blindly guessing with absolutely nothing to back them up. I can understand folks still want to stay optimistic (if that is their true intention) but to help new players who are asking for population advice, they should tell them more specifically to join one of the top 2 most populated servers or join theirs, if the shell is willing to help. Or if possible wait till the server merge to happen.

Note in one of my old posts (if it was posted here previously) I talked about why the Chocobo strength symbol when selecting a server is not accurate, so take this into consideration please. The only "incomplete" population number was from Rab. We are not sure if that was the total population or just from the Japanese language. The purpose they used the "star" symbol (if it does show up from copy/paste) is to "line up" the columns. For some reason ZAM doesn't allow more than 2 "spaces" to show up so I had to use star symbols on the top to sort of line them up.

This was in my thread I posted a while back if you want to read the entire thread.

So it seems as of now, the numbers are slowly tapering off. Another reason why you might want to wait until 2.0 Many players sitting on the sidelines will most likely be returning along with new players. SO this hopefully will make things easier to find groups with and hopefully enjoy the new content without having to go through remodels, new patches, re-learning abilities and such.

Yes I see what you mean I, are they changing the whole gameplay engine or just some tweaks?

Because looks i hear are great, what i saw from videos it seems that when you hit a monster it lacks a certain ummph to each hit. I dunno but it looks childish at times they need to make it more agressive.

Maybe I will hold off thanks for the advice.

Well don't make a decision just based off me. Others in Zam will respond and can give you more detailed feedback.

I think the graphics and art will remain the same. There is a detailed road map as to the things that will be implemented by or before 2.0 floating around the boards somewhere and I think on the official forums.

Many are paying to play in its current state and are happy with it, many are not. I was an XI vet, and tbh, if I weren't so busy with rl at the moment I would be back at XI.

XI had a certain feel to it which XIV has not been able to provide in its current state.
The MS is soloable, but IMO convoluted and broken up to where it is hard to follow. I haven't been following the lore, maybe someone else can comment on that. Solo/Duo content is heavily lacking if that is a route you are thinking of pursuing. Crafting is pain steakingly boring. Gathering hasn't had many tweaks done to it in a while, and is in need of more quests, leves, something to make it more fun. Battling solo doing repetitive leve quests makes a casual player bored and at the same time annoyed cause getting parties is rough below 40, unless you can get someone to p level you, which takes the fun out of the journey and not knowing your class well if you haven't played before.

I am sure I could go on, but from a frustrated players perspective, you get the picture.

I would wait.

However, there is a storyline going on that explains the changes. They're weaving the overhauls and changes into the actual storyline. If you're waiting on 2.0, you can get the jist of what's happening here. This sums up the current story quite well.

The picture of the Meteor getting larger each patch is a rough in-game timetable until 2.0, I imagine.

For all the hard times i give the game, it is not a horrible game in theory, is just the implementation, that is way way ****** up, you see in theory, if the game had a very healthy population across the board, early levels and mid levels would be 500% more enjoyable, the battle system, even tho is vastly improved from the one we had, it feels "Meh" to me, the way they made the craft system system is also very "New player unfriendly" and the cost of every item early on, is stupid.

If I were in your position, which I basically am, I would wait.

I'd wait around for 5-6 months and then buy it while it's still cheap. That way you can buy the software while it's still really cheap, and also you can experience the pre-2.0 storyline that will explain all the massive changes to the game world.

If $9/month is really a huge issue for you (and with this economy, $9/month may be burdensome to some people), then there's no harm in waiting for 2.0 to arrive.

I'm not trying to be nice or mean, just trying to be real. This game is dirt cheap to buy right now, so people with extra money who want to try it should give it a go. I don't see the point in getting it before v2.0, with the exception of a) guaranteed low cost and b) experiencing the pre-2.0 storyline. Read into that what you will.

Are you referencing my awesome Oregon Ducks, who just won the Rose Bowl and today landed a 5* DE commit?

If so, GO DUCKS! OOOOOOOO!!!!
