Choosing a World (to be Merged) FFXI to FFXIVFollow

Hey all,

I'm not sure if any of you remember me as its been a long time since I played FFXI. I resided on the Titan server as a RDM and was in the following LSs (predominantly): Nemesis and ChaoticRemix. I'm bringing a few friends back with me from FFXI (who also have long since retired), namely Alerion, HanktheTank and Destrega. Hank being the predominant leader of Visigoth. I would love to join a world consisting of Titan players that I had known from way back, anyone from Nemesis, ChaoticRemix and Visigoth.

I had played Beta, as I was missing FFXI. I was optimistic about it at Beta but on release it seemed SE failed to listen to our input. Nonetheless, looks like they are finally turning this game around and I'd like to jump in now.

Any recommendations on which worlds to join and why? What are the anticipated effects of world mergers? We are expected to join post Patch 1.21 but before the world mergers. (1st or 2nd week of March)

Hope to see you guys in game soon!

  • Saronia + Lindblum -> Sargatanas = 1971
  • Rabanastre + Cornelia -> Durandal = 1556
  • Fabul + Besaid -> Balmung = 1428
  • Karnak + Palamecia + Bodhum -> Excalibur = 1294
  • Trabia + Kashuan -> Hyperion = 1105
  • Selbina -> Ridill = 966
  • Wutai + Gysahl -> Masamune = 853
  • Istory + Mysidia -> Gungnir = 766
  • Melmond + Figaro -> Aegis = 703
  • Europe -> Ragnarok = Unknown

Population

I'm favoring jumping on Bodhum to become Excalibur. Thinking 3 world merger is most interesting, 3 worlds of LSs crashing into each other, 3 economies becoming one.

Those probably won't be very close to what is actually going to be the pops. A lot of people will probably come back in 1.21 and a lot of people will be transferring servers. With that said, I think choosing Bodhum would be okay but you're going to be really bored until the merges hit.

I'll be joining with 3 of my FFXI vet friends, so you still it'll be boring if we are gonna be partying the whole time? I'm going THM, my bestfriend is going Conjurer, his older brother is going tank class and my friend is going DD melee.

I would think with at least base 4 we should be fine until 1.21.

So are there an official #s from SE that we can look at? I mean doing the match between the Server Merge from SE and the stats that xivpads does have at the least shows: xivpads registered users from low populated servers are being merged with xivpads registered users in highly populated servers = a new server with a midrange amount of xivpads registered users. This is more like polling than it is actual data.

I can only make this calculation based on the information provided. I'd appreciate any other source of world population numbers. Maybe an FFXIV World representative (currently subscribed volunteer) could give me a Friday night population from their world at 10pm 2/24/2012?

Check out post #122 this should give an idea as to pop numbers. It's a more recent post. Hope this helps.

Thank you this was a tremendous help of more real world numbers. I've adjusted my calculation and came up with:

Saturday, January 28th 2012
  • Rabanastre + Cornelia -> Durandal = 1449
  • Melmond + Figaro -> Aegis = 1362
  • Wutai + Gysahl -> Masamune = 1360
  • Karnak + Palamecia + Bodhum -> Excalibur = 1331
  • Saronia + Lindblum -> Sargatanas = 1319
  • Istory + Mysidia -> Gungnir = 1294
  • Trabia + Kashuan -> Hyperion = 1246
  • Fabul + Besaid -> Balmung = 1196
  • Selbina -> Ridill = 1169
  • European Union Ragnarok = Unknown

Most NA players will reside on firstly Ridill(Selbina), then Masamune(Gysahl), Durandal(Cornelia), and Aegis (Figaro).

The above completely throws off my original calculation and as such makes it null/void. As stated earlier xivpads is almost entirely useless to gauge real-time player populations amongst worlds.

This makes me want to choose Durandal through Cornelia as the first world of choice. Selbina will be mostly unchanged so it is not as interesting to me. I am excited by the world merges for relationship and economy changes. Durandal has the third highest total population and the 3rd highest NA population.

Thoughts?

There are a lot of us Titan people on Figaro (soon to be Aegis). I recognize the name "Hankthetank" who used to be in Karasu I think? I don't recognize the other names.

Numbers make a lot more sense there. If you add Lindblum and Saronia you get a number which is the roughly similar to Selbina's current pop.

I was expecting to see the pop numbers even out more after the merge and from that post it looks like they are aiming for about 900-1100 per server as opposed to the 400-600 that is the current average.

EDIT:

Az, not sure which addition you're doing but for NA times I get:

Saronia + Lindblum -> Sargatanas = 1093
Selbina -> Ridill = 895

Where on earth did you get 2600 from for Sargatanas?????

Looks like I screwed up the math! I'll edit with corrections

I used post #119 because those numbers are from a Saturday at 10PM on January 28th, which is more realistic for when I and my friends are playing: http://ffxiv.zam.com/forum.html?forum=152&mid=1325869514243594585&h=50&p=3#119

The numbers given by AmbrosiaAmor are:

Time Totals * JP * EN FR DE
22:57 1169 *936 *155 65 13 Selbina
22:46 *952 *836 *114 ** *2 Gysahl
22:17 *949 *871 **77 *1 *0 Cornelia
23:05 *846 *751 **86 *5 *4 Figaro
23:15 *760 *620 *125 12 *3 Mysidia
22:42 *702 *448 *197 *8 49 Lindblum
22:30 *624 *495 *120 *8 *1 Kashuan
22:50 *622 *493 *113 11 *5 Trabia
23:00 *606 *456 *146 *8 *7 Saronia
22:51 *603 *429 *146 20 *8 Fabul
22:50 *593 *550 **39 *2 *2 Besaid
22:00 *534 *451 **70 *7 *6 Istory
22:30 *530 *398 *121 *6 *5 Palamecia
22:43 *516 *439 **71 *2 *4 Melmond
23:05 *500 *500 **** ** ** Rabanastre
22:47 *408 *232 *150 22 *4 Wutai
22:37 *404 *248 *144 *7 *5 Bodhum
23:02 *397 *360 **31 *3 *3 Karnak

23:00 *606 *456 *146 *8 *7 Saronia
+
22:42 *702 *448 *197 *8 49 Lindblum
= 1319

Don't think his totals are right per server.

I realize, my EDIT was more to him, which has been answered. I am now satisfied, lol. :D

Hey all, the math was screwed up from previous post, please ignore the previous numbers and use the following:

Saturday, January 28th 2012 10PM
Rabanastre + Cornelia -> Durandal = 1449
Melmond + Figaro -> Aegis = 1362
Wutai + Gysahl -> Masamune = 1360
Karnak + Palamecia + Bodhum -> Excalibur = 1331
Saronia + Lindblum -> Sargatanas = 1319
Istory + Mysidia -> Gungnir = 1294
Trabia + Kashuan -> Hyperion = 1246
Fabul + Besaid -> Balmung = 1196
Selbina -> Ridill = 1169
European Union -> Ragnarok = Unknown
Most NA players will reside on firstly Ridill (Selbina, 936 NA), then Masamune (Gysahl, 836 NA), Durandal (Cornelia, 871 NA), and Aegis (Figaro, 751 NA)

So the following are true pre-1.21 FFXI Class edition patch and pre-merger:

Durandal 1st highest overall population, 3rd highest NA population
Aegis 2nd highest overall population, 4th highest NA population
Masamune 3rd highest overall population, 2nd highest NA population
Excalibur 4th highest overall population, unstable outcome
Selbina/Ridill 2nd lowest population, stable outcome?

I like Masamune through Gysahl. It seems the best of all worlds.

Hey Az, been a long time.

There are a few Titan players on my server ( currently Rabanastre- soon to be Durandal)

This server seems decently populated, Ive never had much trouble finding a LS or people to play with.

If you choose this server let me know Im sure I could get you guys into one of my LS's
