I want to apologize for not making an appearance on the forums or releasing a letter. While the letter is not quite finished yet, I wanted to go ahead and let you all know about the status of the patch since the forum is a bit faster medium.

Debugging of patch 1.21 has progressed considerably and we are in the final phases of adjusting the content and systems.

I really wanted to have the specs changed for magic casting and we have been making adjustments up to the last minute, and while the system is not exactly uniform internally with the 2.0 client, we did our best to make the behavior just about the same. Medicines/food adjustments are complete and now we are at the stage where we eliminate all the bugs and wait for release.

The adjustments for the 2 instanced raids have just reached the best parts and the battle QA team has been shouting cheers (cries?) everyday.

I have been checking the overall balance and making necessary adjustments to the job quests since last weekend. The job quests seem to be giving us the most trouble and I have my hands all tied up to make sure it’s ready for the public.

Speaking of 1.21, unfortunately, the release date is looking like somewhere between the 6th~9th of March due to the tall order of adjustments requested by yours truly. I deeply apologize for repeatedly pushing back the release date of the patch, but please bear with us just a while longer.

I don’t think it’s fair for the community if I cut the comment off here so let me take advantage of the dev booth (since I seem to be the only one left here) by taking some screen shots of the job quests and posting them here…

Paladin Quest

Dragoon Quest

Bard Quest

Black Mage Quest

I’ll follow-up with the precise date of the patch and the status of the job quests during next week’s producer letter. Alright then, I’m going to take a little nap before I work some more tomorrow!

Good night.

I can't say that I am shocked by the delay. TBH, it's a lot they are trying to accomplish :/ However, I am very eager to hear about it on the Lodestone forums to see what players think of the job system.

Smiley: lol

That being said, is there someone that can translate the text in the pics. The community rep posted them a bit larger like two posts down.

I'm shocked! Wait no. What's the opposite of shocked? Antishocked? English doesn't seem to have a single word that describes the opposite of being shocked. (And no, insulated doesn't work.)

Everyone else is arguing about that ATM. Most are saying it does NOT say Shantoto and just says Shatoto. I don't read Japanese so I'm not jumping in either camp.

It says Shatoto. There's really no arguing about that, as the letters themselves are right there. Now, whether it's a coincidental name or actually a reference (or a typo wherein they forgot the 'n,' haha) we have yet to see.

~

On another topic, though, SE's initial schedule, which marks 2.0's beta at the end of this year, mentions that this patch would be completed either in January or by the first days of February. But then it was delayed until mid-February, then late-February... and now into the second week of March.

So, given that SE has greatly delayed one of the very first items on their own timeline, does anyone still think it to be plausible that 2.0 will come out on time? At this rate, seriously, 2.0 will face an entire year's delay. By delaying the first item by 1-2 months, SE has ensured that every subsequent item is also pushed back; then, when those get delayed, we'll actually be facing a cumulative delay whose running total is amassing to a huge number! I don't care about the workload or the excuses, those don't matter to reviewers, to potential customers, &c.; results are all that matter, and this team truly has to get it together. >_<

2.0 is done by a separate team and no patches affect each other's release. Yoshida even stated the only reason for this delay is due to changes he wants done to certain things. The whole reason 1.x is "slow" is due to them working on the PS3/2.0 update, and even then you have to account for the fact the massive tsunami and earthquake pushed things back nicely (not just for Square even, even non-media related businesses.)

I need to find the quote but I believe Yoshi did say these delays have not impacted the 2.0 timeline

"I’d also like to share some info on the release schedule for 1.21. We’d originally aimed for the patch to go live in the second week of February, but after looking over the amount of content and all the accompanying UI changes, localization, balancing, QA’ing, and such, we’re currently looking at a delay of about two weeks. We’re pushing really hard for an end-of-February release, but ask that you wait a bit and keep an eye on the announcements we’ll be making on the forums and in Topics regarding details. (Don’t worry, none of this will have any effect on the version 2.0 schedule!)"

Hex hope you are wrong :(. I'll be very very sad/happy if you are. Sad cause I do want to start playing again when it should have been released in awesomeness. Happy though for a delay which means I'll be less of a zombie to play cause my kid will hopefully be sleeping through the night if 2.o is indeed delayed :D

Obviously, it's a reference to Windurst Waters' own Shatoto, the often underestimated Home Point guard. Smiley: clown
