Overall, they're not so bad. The animations are nice enough and generally fluid, but some of them dissipate very suddenly, or seem to move with too low of a frame rate to clearly see what's going on (like the Bard WS). It would also be nice to see some more reaction on the part of the monsters who get pummeled so thoroughly (the antlion that got a massive ice explosion didn't react at all, for example). But, as I said, I don't think they're bad, overall.

Yea, it would have been nice if the ant froze or something.

They're not long to where animation lock or zerg battles would suffer and they're not brief and unimpressive.

I think it's a good balance.

Whack-whack.
Poink-poink.

Somehow this best describes my impression.

Playing a Mage Character in FFXIV looks as
enthrallingly dynamic as grinding concrete.

Where is the movement? The push and pull of
monsters? Some sort of reaction and impact
other than a brief flash of light?

I liked them. Black Mage looks badass. If i'm not mistaken they also get sleepaga and ancient magics (other than freeze) like flare. Curious to see those animations. And of course the dragoon jump is sick.

Thanks to that video, I've learned that the German word for Weaponskill is:

Waffenfertigkeiten

I'm using that word from now on Smiley: wink

Oh, and for pity's sake, someone get those Barchers a knife.

Pretty sure none of the punches, kicks, pokes, slashes, etc have any impact on FFXIV mobs.. yet another aesthetics problem..

The mob doesn't even look to be in pain at all.. they got hit by an ice explosion and they just shrugged it off.. WHAT The eff..
