I think your best bet is to join a LS. The questions you are flooding the forums with (btw- I laughed at the thread you created for your own questions but then was sad you made a new thread for this) can be answered by a LS mate faster than posting here. It's also way more appropriate.

But since you asked. Best way to get low level gear is to craft it. It's easy to level up any craft and you should be able to craft level 10 gear by level 5. Assuming you find a LS- just ask. Low level gear is easy to make and a LS mate probably has materia laying around to meld.

Problem there is, unless I wanna spend a ton of time to make the dated recipies, the newer recipies don't really have much to offer armor wise. There isin't even any complete sets that I can see. Hrm.

Scyris,

Most likely joining an LS may help you since majority of the people still playing have almost everything maxed out. Someone is bound to have a craft that will be helpful to aiding you in getting updated gear for your character.

Or if you are just anti-social like me and my husband and don't care about how fast you get things done, definately crafting will work best in your favor like Dero said.

The new sets seem poor compared to the dated sets because the new sets are designed with adding materia in mind. With materia affixed, you can usually boost your gear with the sort of stat boosts that would be beneficial for the class you want to use it with.

That said, it's a long process that might not be worth the bother. Since you can level up fairly quick, you'd outgrow your armor and weapons a lot faster than it would be to make a set of good low level gear on your own (with some outside help, however, it might be more reasonable to try this).

Most people invest their efforts into perfecting level 50 gear as result.

This is a good point. You can zoom from 15-21 in a matter of just a couple hours or so, I'd imagine 10-15 to be much shorter. At that point the time spent crafting / searching the Wards for gear is not worth it given that it could be spent picking up and completing leves, which now reward you with some fairly decent gear pieces.

I'm not saying I like this methodology (it basically renders sub level 20 gear pointless yet there are a lot of crafting levels spent building those those pieces), but that's the game we have now so we might as well utilize it in the best way possible.

Gear and level are similar to how 11 was when it started, just the scale is different. From 1-20, you can go with a basic set (such as the Onion gear). Otherwise, leve drops are decent, but rare, it will take you longer to get to level 20 than to get gear from leves.

At level ~20, you can get gear from the low level dungeon. It takes time, however, with some help it can be easier to get, and you get exp while you are farming your armor.
After 30, you get the totorak and NM gear you can use until 40. At 40, you will most likely end up at the wards fishing for gear, and wishing you had the millions of gil that people think you should have.

Dated gear has better stats since it is INCREDIBLY hard to make, and that is what you get for the effort. However, attaching 1-2 materia will make the non-dated gear better than the dated gear very easily, however, if you are just starting out, attaching materia on your own requires you level a craft you probably don't want to deal with.

But, as LillithaFenimore pointed out, a good LinkShell can help you with most of this stuff. Though, getting a linkshell that isn't solely focused on Ifrit and Moogles can be difficult. Though there are more people popping up all the time now (at a trickle mind you), so finding people your level should be possible.
