Greetings once again fellow Eorzeans!

I would like to start off by thanking those players from around the globe who took time to participate in the debate regarding the recently released World merger details. Your feedback was extremely valuable.

As you all know, the application process for World transfer is set to begin in March, so make sure to mark your calendars!

Now, let me move on to an even hotter topic—the progress and release date of patch 1.21. While I have been posting updates on the forums, I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize for waiting so long to make an official announcement here in a producer letter.

Currently, debugging on 1.21 is in its final stages, with testing and adjustments of new content and systems coming to a conclusion.

I, myself, have been closely involved with the upcoming changes to magic casting. While differences between the current client and the 2.0 client have forced us to take a different approach to achieve the desired results, I am happy to say the new system in 1.21 should be almost identical to what will be found in 2.0.

Next up is some good news for all alchemists and culinarians who have been waiting patiently for long overdue adjustments to medicines and food—the bulk of the work is complete, and once a few minor bugs are squashed, everything will be in place.

For those of you itching for a new battle, the two instanced raids planned for 1.21 have finally moved into the last phase of testing, with every daily client update sending our QA team into fits (of joy, of course).

In addition to working on the casting changes, I have also been spending the last two weeks running a fine-toothed comb through the job quests...as this has turned out to be the biggest mountain left to scale.

Due to the sheer volume of my suggestions, the quest team has had to work extra hard to ensure everything is in order, and this has ultimately resulted in the patch release date being pushed to Friday, March 9 (barring the discovery of any critical bugs). I deeply apologize for the numerous delays 1.21 has experienced, and humbly ask that you bear with us just a little longer. To tide you all over until the release, here are some screenshots of what to expect on the new job quests:

* All content is currently under development and liable to change.

There is still much more left to do to make sure everything is ready by next Friday, so I’d best get back to the grindstone.

I’ll talk to you all again soon!

I'm late to the forums on discussing details about the new jobs. Does anyone know if there will be more armor sets to choose from besides the ones shown in these pics and the vids?

No doubt, more will be added over the years.

There has been some talk from the forum moderators (on lodestone) about Job Specific Armor, as well as AF sets (yes plural) for jobs.

The implication is that some will be better than materia crafted gear (the first set is slated to be), while some of it will be on par with standard (no materia) gear.

And of course people are complaining that the gear that is better than 1-2 materia gear will destroy crafting, and there are people who are complaining that gear that is on par with crafted gear is pointless to get...

Either way, if they look good, are functional, and have decent bonuses, it should be interesting.

They really need to start getting gear out that has bonuses that there are no materia available for yet (e.g. haste, Enhances X weaponskill/Spell/Ability, Regen, Refresh, and such).

That gear I think would bring the best of both worlds, people will want it for specific situations, and Materia gear can still be better in other situations.

From what I've read the af will be better than doubled melded gear on the markets which could stand to completely destroy crafting depending on the obtainability factor of the af pieces.

if for example you can quest the af with a similar amount of time and difficulty to the af in xi then imo thats too easy and can have the full set in 5-6 hours and completely make anything craftable/meldable obselete if however its harder. think af2/dynamis where you run the smae thing countless times in the hope of a drop then market/materid stuff will still be worthwhile.

if it easily obtainable though then it could pretty easily kill every craft that isnt alchemy or cooking depending on how the food&med reform shapes up.

there's alot of people expecting to be running around with full af within 3 or 4 days of the patch and i really hope that it doesn't happen. and a fair few of my crafting friends agree with me. the pl trend already hurts crafts pl 1-40 completely eradicates the need for any gear at that level so i really hope the af doesnt kill whats left. have to wait and see i guess.

I mean I love crafting gear and the thrill of double bonding something but there needs to be more elite unique gear that is better than what you can make. If its hard to get then it shouldn't hurt crafting too much - best of both worlds, everyone is happy! (I know, I know... there will never be a time when EVERYONE is happy) =)

I'd kinda like to see something like the abj. system in xi where some of the best gear is both crafted and requring items from nms / challenges.

Yeah that's just what this game needs is an AF system resembling dynamis x.x
