I actually made it as well, on my website it's called ChatMod. If you download and use that you can talk with your game and watch the chatlog from http://ffxiv-app.com/chat/

Only you can see your chatlog, but shouts are seen by everyone :)

What information were you looking for?

Yeah, I know you made it, but it's not really what I'm looking for but has the functionality to be customized to what we're looking for.
Any information on what the call chain looks like would be fantastic. Simply looking through the object browser and experimenting hasn't been successful.

From a basic look it seems the AppModXIV.Memory.ChatWorker does the brunt of the work. I imagine you're using GetProcsByName to grab the XIV process to pass in to a new AppModXIV.Memory.Offsets object then using the same proc to pass into the ChatWorker with the offsets object.

Is this how you're doing it? Calling StartLogging with the events in ChatWorker assigned produces no results that I notice.

Thanks,
Josh

If I understand you correctly your attempting to use my dll library in your own application. As the work is copyrighted I will ask that you refrain from violating that right. If I'm misunderstanding what your requesting than please let me know.

If it doesn't do what you would like in the current state of the program I am open to suggestions from the community as to what they would to see in future products. You can let me know as well.

Thanks.

Really, because no where on your website or with your applications do you distribute copyright information nor does your application/code even have eligibility to become copyrighted. I believe what brought interest in using your DLL in the first place was a post comment about the free use of your newly released log dll. I'm perfectly fine with not using your code, but you'll need to read US copyright laws and how exactly you obtain them before saying your work is copyrighted. Not releasing source code =/= copywriting.

I will respect your wishes in not pursuing the use of your dll as anyone who wouldn't would be a colossal prick.

Josh

My code is mine. All Rights Reserved. It's on my site. It's in the source. It's in the license.txt file. @#$@# awesome Friday.

Enacted in 1989 just making something grants automatic copyright unless otherwise stated.

Have a great weekend.

First of all : What? o.O

Second of all : I seriously doubt you're going to find many people on the internet that support copyright laws, but good luck with that.

Poor coding practice aside (using an undocumented piece of code that you're not entirely sure about is just asking for trouble), it's not technically a violation of copyright unless they start redistributing your code as though it was theirs.

They could, however, ask their users to install your code, and then run their code which uses your code and still not violate copyright. Basically, your app does this with FFXIV in the first place, and if it was wrong, SE could say you're violating their copyright with their client. But we both know that isn't true.

However, since they can't redistribute your code, and you can change or refuse to distribute the code they specifically rely on, you can attempt to block them any number of ways if you're up to the fight. It's probably for the best to realize they're pretty much following your lead with how you're treating SE's app, in my opinion, and not get too bent over it.

More of this drama? Wasn't something about this programmer and their code posted on Guildwork yesterday? If I remember right, Nitsuj took it to about 60 comments and then finally deleted it after being confronted several times with screen captures and cold hard facts? /popcorn Lets see how far this one goes

This thread is in response to an accusation that I "stole" a parser for those wondering wtf the OP is babbling about.

But let me halt this right here,

Here are screenshots of my conversation with the creator of the program, him clearly giving me consent to upload and distribute:

So before this snowballs into something it isn't (like it did yesterday on your guildwork accusations), Ill submit these images to the public.

Also, sorry for the trouble zam. Seems he wants to continue the drama here, hoping he will get some sort of response.

Thanks for your time.

Hmm. Sounds like you have an agreement to work out Smiley: tongue But it's too bad if you can't work together. Usually building on an existing work can extend the value of everyone's efforts, like add-ons to the Windower.

Nah, there is no agreement anymore,

Crap came right off our website as soon as OP decided he would cry wolf before talking to me about it.

No more problems ^^

This thread is about the @#%^tard who sent me pm's on how he was browsing my code and asking how to use it. nothing related to you mog. did you see your name? I didnt; not until you posted sonething completely different.

Regarding the whole incident I had also sent unanswered messages that I still couldn't access the edit feature on the forum. After waiting with no response I felt you had abandoned our agreement too take over zam and bg to be the only and best community out there.

I asked your friend to get you to contact me because I was having this nagging feeling and all that could be said was you work all day and aren't too into forum software. I'm sorry it all ended this way.

Take care.

I love the lack of education when it comes to trivial things like this.

Yes, source code is copyrighted by the original author, you are given that, but it is up to you to prove that you are an original author. (US copyright grants an author copyright to their work regardless of whether or not there is a copyright statement on the work, yet when that work is based on the work of another, there is other rights that are granted or revoked depending on how the work is obtained or presented. (US Copyright Law))

Quoting Wikipedia when making an argument leaves your argument without credibility or professionallism.
Additionally, as others have mentioned, if I were you, I would check to make sure that you have copyright capabilities since SE specifially states:
Quote:

2.5

Ownership of Derivative Works. You acknowledge and agree that any authorized or unauthorized derivative works of the Licensed Software, or the Documentation, are the sole and exclusive property of SQUARE ENIX. To the furthest extent permissible in the relevant jurisdiction, you hereby irrevocably assign to SQUARE ENIX all right (for the Japanese Region only, including those rights set forth in articles 27 and 28 of Japanese Copyright Law), title, and interest in and to any and all such authorized or unauthorized derivative works of the Licensed Software created by you or on your behalf. SQUARE ENIX reserves its right, in its sole discretion, to request that any such derivative works possessed or otherwise controlled by you be delivered to SQUARE ENIX or be destroyed.
(FFXIV License Agreement)

Therefore, since I want to be a thorn, per se, you do not have rights to the dll as per my interpertation of SE's license agreement and US Copyright law.
