FFXIV on SteamFollow

Square Enix should relaunch FFXIV with 2.0 on Steam. Are there any plans for this? Population will jump tremendously through out all servers, may grab a few curious people if they can get a Steam sale going for FFXIV during relaunch 2.0 month. Thoughts?

I would be surprised if they DIDN'T do this. FFXI has been on Steam for quite a while......SE seems very open to Steam (there's even a Steam sale on SE games this weekend!)

I actually think thats a great idea. Im one of those people who randomly buy things on steam when they are on sale and whatnot. Actually bought ffxi 6 months ago just to have it even though i quit long ago and lost my discs.

Any form of selling is good, it's advertisement and potetial sales. I've purchased a ton of random games off steam over the years.

They were doing a 50% off all FF content on the PS Store too.

I'd hope they would do that at some point. And the release of 2.0 is as good a point as any. But don't expect much lasting impact on population numbers. FF games generally have a niche following.

Even if a large number of people bought it, they'd have to stick around for the long run. In the short run the population may boom, but unless the game changes enough to grab the casual gamer, those players won't stick around terribly long.
