Should I start FFXIV yet?Follow

I just got the CE of FFXIV, let me say I had no idea the "Right of passage" voucher expired in 2011, that made me sad. Anyway, I would love to join this game but I have some questions. Mainly, should I start yet? I know the game is being changed like crazy and will continue until 2013. With that being said, should I just wait until the game is "finished" or would it be a good idea to jump in during the remodel process?

Here is my current position:

I am a casual MMORPGamer.

I LOVED FFXI, but its not the same anymore. I am taking advantage of 99 and finishing up things I was unable to do at 75. So, within a few months I should be done with FFXI, forever, if for nothing else, for my sanity. Just want to kill a few more things and make a farewell video for myself when I'm 90years old.

I am going to buy and play FFXIV on the PS3, when it comes out.

I have no problems waiting until the PS3 release but was unsure if I should play a little before that happens but with all the change, I got a little scared.

Then there is the obvious questions like, economy, noob friendly, leveling as a casual/solo player, is it worth it to play now or wait ~8+ months, after 2.0 anyway.

What do all of you think?

Thanks in advance.

Now is a good time to start.

You could have one or two 50s with casual play for when 2.0 comes out.

The jobs are fun and overall FFXIV is (now) where it should have been on release. So to a new player, you might enjoy things from a fresh start.

Thanks. Maybe Ill do my 1month trial and then finish up on FFXI. I was thinking it would be a good idea to get some jobs leveled for the PS3 release. Plus I would like to see this exclusive Pre-2.0 storyline.

Last big question, would it mater what nation I join, to start out in? I think I'm going to join the forest people. I like woodworking, archery, and elves, plus that landscape. To me, in FFXI I would have been crippled if I started in Windy, the trip to the dunes alone would have ruined my life. Anything like that I might need to consider? Thanks again.

Gridania and Limsa from what I understand are pretty dead. I would start out in Uldah. That is between the other two nations and you will have an easier time finding parties and getting gear. That is just my 2cents.

I noticed that on the map. I was thinking that it might be better to stay between the two cities for that reason too. At any case, I know I'm not a sailor, that's for sure. Thank you. So now I decide, forest or fortress... Hmm...

Start wherever you please. But be aware the hub is in Ul'dah. Fortunately, you get airship access from the get-go and you can simply fly over to Ul'dah for whatever you need.
