[dev1357] The Armoire

* The following feature, scheduled for patch 1.22, is in development and subject to change.

Patch 1.22 will introduce armoires—storage cabinets that can be used to store untradable gear and other similar items. Armoires will be placed in the inns rooms of each city-state, and players will be able to store and reclaim their prized possessions at their leisure. The following kinds of items will be made storable:
Job-exclusive gear
Seasonal event gear
Achievement reward gear
Bonus items (Garlond goggles, onion helm, Asuran armguards, Hermes' shoes)
* There are certain exceptions.
While armoires will be free to use, the following conditions apply:
Item condition must be 100%
Only one of a particular item can be stored.
Storing an item resets its spiritbond.
Armoires are shared across all three city-states; items stored at one location can be reclaimed at another.

Why must player storage come with conditions?

Is it an Armoire of Invincibility? Because I'd totally quest in the Giant's Forest for an Armoire of Invincibility.

Well I'm pretty sure none of the items on that list are meldable so spiritbond doesn't matter, and being at 100% is an additional factor that says to me the container only sees the item not the fact that it's your item 98% SB'd and at 33% health... you know to save on server space or whatever, I dunno honestly. I do know that it's better than requiring an entire set before you can store an item.

It's an expensive armoire... so much so that I wouldn't want to put anything but 100% pristine gear inside of it. Can't have the thing getting dirty, after all.

Agree to disagree! I find it quite useful as i have 6/7 AF armor sets (soon 7/7). But i only play 2 maybe 3 of those 6 so that is 15-20 slots i can free up. As well another 15-20 from event items i have collected, and another 5-10 from the achievement/bonus items. This feature is more for a convenience, if you have no use for it that's fine, if you are a pack rat or like collecting the stuff from events it's a bonus.

Also, in Ver. 2.0 You will be able to access the new area "Narnia" via the Armoire.

In FFXI you could feel the breeze through the internet from all the sighs of relief when they added storage NPCs for gear...it may not seem like a big deal, but being able to conserve inventory space and retrieve gear from any city is a big deal. Now if only the Ul'dah Inn was working properly...
