The following Worlds have reached the maximum limit of characters. Therefore, we have suspended the ability to create new characters on these Worlds.

We may reinstate the character creation in the future, but it is undetermined as of this moment. An additional announcement will be made once the reinstatement is finalized.

Please note that this only affects the creation of new characters. Any inactive characters on the following Worlds (including characters that were created prior to the World Merge) can access these Worlds once the corresponding option is reactivated.

Affected Worlds:
- Masamune
- Durandal
- Aegis
- Gungnir

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Not the most promising news. As long as this is in effect, anyone playing on those servers cannot ask a friend to join them, and this effects nearly half of the total servers. Considering how many people join MMOs to play with friends, I could easily see this being a deal breaker. Hopefully this will not last.

I don't know, I see this as a glass 1/2 full. They apparently were not expecting people to take to the game this quickly. Yeah, it means they have to back pedal again. But at least this is the first time they have a real problem with too many players.

I imagine that has to be the best frustration for them so far (I swear SE runs on frustration and caffeine right now...)

FTFY

Apparently, the characters who weren't active on March 26 and 27 are taking up too much space (it's no coincidence this is about the time they got around to completing the merge of inactive characters to the new servers). Once again, this merge is proving to have been executed not as well as I would have expected.

I dunno, even at non-peak time we're slammed in all 3 cities with activity. The only place that lags is Ul'Dah, but it did it when nearly empty too. It sucks for the people wanting to play with friends, but I'm happy I have people to play with and multiple LS's that are almost always over 50% manned.

The only answer is there are millions of people playing the game now and these 4 servers are just so jam packed SE had no choice but to lock them down.

I'd rather they shut down the servers for new people BUT still allow buddy passes and the like...

I sometime think this game has gil sellers when I see single items that sell for barely 1k selling for near 1 mill gil.It happens to often to be a mistake.Since SE isn't doing a gil seller purge I hope the let us move to less populated servers.

Yea this. I'm completely awe struck at the level of technical incompetence required to have a server with to many characters in 2012. Either the network code is complete garbage so much that it was never capable of handling the same amount of users that FFXI did at one time or they mean their database for that world is "full". Or maybe its something so crazy no ones ever heard about it because it never happens in the modern world.

If 2.0 has any of these problems they'd might as well cut their losses and close the game. People aren't as forgiving about MMOs these days as they used to be. SE will continue to be the laughing stock of gaming. Issues like this are not one a game should have in 2012...well not if they want to make money anyway.

Honestly it's not as bad as when the game was free and the bots try a bit harder to hide. But yes, SE needs to do some bot sweeping.

SE never did any bot sweeping with FFXI so changes are minimal that SE will actively do something about it with FFXIV.
**** i still can get angry about how SE "fought" the botting in FFXI by ******** every honest fishermen with every "countermeasure" while the botters laughed their asses off because it didn't hurt them at all.

Same spot in Gungnir. Must be their fave spot. Nothing like an army of lalafell named "jklijo jsidhgo" wearing weathered gear clogging up the area.

Hex,

Yeah I know :). And awe, I got called Mama... By someone I didn't birth Oo; lol

Still slowly grinding away at my con when I have time an energy. Still having fun.
One little annoyance. They really should just move all the Leves to the appropriate areas instead of having to port back and forth for four Leves. That or let us take as many as we have for our allowances.

I would be happy with the ability to have 8 battlcraft leves, 8 crafting leves and 8 gathering leves at the same **** place. Heck bump it up to 16. By the time I'm done with those I would be wanting/needing to head back to town anyway.

Get your leves for your favorite camp before you log out, next time you log in you should have a few more. For example I've got 6 L30s at the same camp in my journal atm. Then I just ride the choco to the camp and use return to refresh leves. When I was still doing 5 star level 10s with 2ish star 20's I'd HP at the furthest and work my way back to town or whatever that area I was in benefitted the most from.

A not so great way is to use a leve that has a ton of mobs (like levinshower) and abandon it on the last mob. Then you retry for one leve allowance and repeat. You lose out on the bonus, but it works out over time. I just don't like doing it as it's even more boring, plus you might miss a random shout in town for a relevant level XP party (because so many people still aren't using search)
