Predict the Fall of Garuda!

In anticipation of the coming of Garuda in patch 1.22, we are pleased to present a fun event that will put your powers of prediction to the test! We are asking players to guess how long they think it will take for the first group of adventurers to down the mighty primal of wind. Those who guess the precise time, as well as the 20 closest runners-up, will receive exciting in-game items as a reward for their otherworldly foresight! So whatever you were thinking about, stop! And let us know when you think Garuda will first have her wings clipped!

http://youtu.be/Ofwt6ybLcXM

Entry Period

April 13, 2012 (Friday) – April 23, 2012 (Monday) 1:00 PDT/8:00 GMT

Entry Method

Predict how long it will take for players to defeat the primal Garuda after her release in patch 1.22. Please post your guesstimates in both hours and minutes.

Example:
48 hours 32 minutes

Rules

Similar to the Ifrit battle, the Garuda battle will have both a low-level version and a high-level version. The predictions for this contest relate only to the high-level battle.

The time prediction is for how much time will pass before the first group of adventurers defeat the primal Garuda (hard mode) after patch 1.22 is released.

The actual time will be rounded down to the nearest minute. For example, in the event that the time is 48 hours 32 minutes 58 seconds, the correct answer would be 48 hours 32 minutes.

Results

Winners will be announced on the official forums after the development team has confirmed Garuda's defeat.

Prizes

Exact prediction (to the minute)

Your choice of one Garuda weapon
Scarf of Wondrous Wit
Five Vortex Headdresses* (item name pending)

Closest predictions (the 20 closest guesses to the actual clear time)

Scarf of Wondrous Wit
Five Vortex Headdresses* (item name pending)

* The Vortex Headdress is an item that is collected and exchanged for Garuda weapons, similar to Inferno Totems and Kupo Nut Charms.
* In the event that multiple users post the same times, priority will be given to the first poster.
* The 20 winners will be selected from the global list of entries and not for each region.

Please Note

One entry per player. If multiple entries are posted, only the first post will be valid.
Posts cannot be edited while the event is ongoing.
The prizes for this event are all in-game items and have no monetary value.

Hint (?)

You might assume we wouldn't offer any hints on this one, but we managed to get a hint from the lead developer of primal battles himself!

"Hmm... this is tough since we're still making our final balance adjustments... but I can tell you Garuda is going to be quite a bit stronger than Ifrit and Good King Moggle Mog XII!"

As we were leaving, he mentioned one more thing...

"The quests leading up to the primal battle will be shorter than the previous ones."

And with that, let the predictions begin!

So the winner can choose either one Garuda item or 5 tokens used to get a Garuda item? Smiley: dubious

I must be missing something...

Maybe there's more to get than what drops with the tokens?

I read it as you get to choose which Garuda weapon that you want and with the scarf and the tokens. The reason I assume they put the fact that you had a choice was because they didnt want it to sound like you would be auto assigned a random weapon.

It is definitely, you get 1 weapon, 5 totems, and one scarf if you get the exact time (to the minute).

This is something that seems cool and yet you still have to bring hate. If you don't got anything good to say at all, don't say it.

I like how the only hint they gave us is that it will be harder than the other 2 primals lol. I'm giving 50hrs 14mins.

What I said was far from "bringing hate." I pointed out what appeared to be a humorous eccentricity in SE's wording and offered no negative criticism whatsoever. It was like, in the last contest, when SE said that "There will be three (10) winners" - is quoting that piece of text and giggling alongside other posters spreading hate? I think it's spreading pleasure; we're all just having fun and SE is in no way hurt in the process.

I like the contests, and hope they continue to have more! Maybe something similar, but not exactly the same like mog bonanza will come around sometime. Always great to have a chance at a lot of gil. ^^

My apologies then. Hope you enjoy Garuda!

You're going to get a Garuda item of your choice AND 5/10 tokens towards the next one.

Like Final Fantasy XI, the game specs will be extremely high for the time, but in about 5 years, an average machine can run it on max settings with little to no issues. Tanaka also expressed interest in making a benchmark program available.

You're right. You are. You're missing beginner level reading comprehension....troll away friend, troll away. This is exactly the kind of attitude I was talking about a while back. You're just not putting in any effort any more.
