Your thoughts regarding CombosFollow

Is it just me or am I the only person who dislikes combos? Im not such a fan for three reasons. First reason is positioning. And I know what some of you are saying something like: "It makes DDs not be lazy and get off their butts" but thats not the point. Ive had a few parties where there are ******** who are trying to combo the same time I'm trying to combo and the person with hate just turns it. Second one are the bonuses. I find the bonuses in combos kind of pointless in most situations. Some of the debuffs dont even last long enough and even if they did, the monster dies too ******* fast and in some endgame monsters, they dont even stick. The only combos I like using are ones regarding enmity and stun, thats it. Third reason is the animation. Its so...meh... I miss skillchains man >_> I rather combo with other people instead with myself tbh. Not to mention, the classes currently dominating the game are mages and tanks. Wheres the love for other DDs? :/

I'd prefer Skillchains make a comeback, but I don't hate the combo system. I don't have enough endgame experience to comment on their overall usefulness, but in theory, I like the combo system. Like most things, I'm sure the implementation could be improved, but the framework is there to make a decent system.

Now combos + skillchains that actually made you think, plan, and work with other melee to maximize dps. That's something I could get behind.

Combos add depth to gameplay and when you stated that people are comboing at the same time as an argument. That is the players fault and not the mechanics. If you are playing at a higher lvl and using combos then I would suggest that the group get more organized. Second the fact that certain buffs dont stick to Boss mobs or mobs die to quick is an issue that can be resolved by making the combos more important in boss fights and most likely are used for the damage output on smaller mobs. I see no problem with combos and I feel they add depth to the game and make combat that much more involved.

Yeah I also miss skill chains or battle regimen. Coming from FFXI as my previous MMO, it makes it feel like combos make it too easy to kill anything especially when the combo doesn't actually use partial tp for the added attacks, so its just a spam-fest for DDs and tanks. Sure the positioning adds depth and combo accumulation but we have no actual teamwork in my opinion other than keeping the mob facing a specific direction unlike that of a skill chain.
If anything, I think combos + skill chains will make it too easy to overpower mobs even though we already kill almost everything too quickly.
The only suggestion i can have for you is abuse that combo timer until you can guarantee to pull it off. 10 seconds is a long time but sadly most mobs feel like they are already dead by then.

For BLM combos are pretty boring, you basically just cast the 1st tier spell then the 2nd. Combos are fun though for melee. Take for example, the good king moogle battle. I play that with dragoon. With the moogles all moving around, sometimes its a challenge to do my 3 move combo, because you have to hit the mob from the back, then the side.

Just make mobs with more defense and health problem solved
