Everybody gets to remake their character come 2.0, even those who have already made them long ago.

They will be adding things to character creation, and someone posted on another post saying that EVERYONE will have a one time chance come 2.o to change the appearance of their character...so basically...if you are asking if there will be a bunch of "manquote's" walking around with FFX Lulu type bossoms...then your answer will be yes....

Im going to put this in the suggestion thread but I think its kinda dated to not have a type of in game character modification option. The introduction to the barbershop idea in WoW should imo be implemented in all MMORPGS so that the player doesnt have to re-roll just to change the hairstyle, color, features, etc.

It's funny how, in most games, one's hairstyle is as difficult to change as one's race.

This view (read = hate) of guys playing female characters always kind of cracked me up about this game and XI, because it just doesn't exist in any other MMO I've ever played, and I've played a LOT of them. TBH, about 70% of all the characters I've created in MMOs are male, but my XIV character is a mithra (whatever they call the race now). What it comes down to? I'm only going to have ONE character for this game because I'm not going to pay for more slots, I might as well not stare at man-*** the entire time I'm playing with no relief. If I can delude the man-*** with other characters it's not a big deal (my warrior in WoW is male, http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/area-52/Gorph/simple but if it's all I'm ever going to look at, give me a female.

EDIT: And yes, when 2.0 comes out, and my 10 dollars a month will pay for 8 characters on a realm / 40 characters total, I will be re-rolling my main character to a male.

Its obvious men will choose male avatars more commonly, and to me, a mithra or different race is just that, an avatar. A guy, playing as a female human I think would be more for the weirdos if i had to break it down, then the elvaan, then the mithra. I don't think any guys play female taru taru so i wont include that one lol but i definitely agree its nicer to look at a females *** then a males but when its a 3cm x 3cm area on my screen i think it would just be easier to look at my gf's in between pulls

I play mithra in FFXIV and I'm male and it's not because I like looking at a females ***, it's not because I'm a weirdo and it's not because I don't have a girlfriend. It's because I like the way the character looks the best. Maybe it's just peoples stupid mentality that's messed up. I think anyone should play whatever they want. Doesn't make you a paedophile if you play a Lalafel, no, it makes you one if children turn you on.

Exactly. Which is why the whole, "I want to be staring at a female's *** while I play" statement is made all the creepier. If you need to be aroused by your character as you play, I think you may be playing the game for the wrong reason, lol. >_>

would like to add i do play the female model on Reach, got heaving into mlg for a few years and while i understand the hitboxes are the same on the female and male character the perception is im smaller and perception is everything.

my problem with the phrase is the way it is overused, and each person who uses it does so in a context that suggests it was an original thought of theirs. I wouldnt call it creepy, necessarily, as there's nothing wrong with being aroused by a depiction of the human(ish) body. But i feel like it has to be counter-productive at some point...

That's society today, that why the world is so f'ed up cuz everyone wants to fit in and follow the herd so to speak. That's the only way you're cool.

I think most people aren't saying "I want" they are saying "I'd rather" which is kind of different. The people you are talking about are a different category of player.

Though.. Lets be honest.. The majority of stiffies coming from FFXI were those players who had an unhealthy attachment to their damage meters.

I'm not sure how to get all the quotes I want without totally butchering it so I won't bother, I'll just reply. I'm not getting aroused by staring at Mithra ***. I'm just being funny. What I'm saying is, if I can only have one character, I will roll a female always. But when given (basically) unlimited characters, 2 out of 3 or more that I create will be male.

This game is as much about playing Barbie dressup-doll with your character as it is killing monsters. And IMO, chicks that have crazy armor and slay monsters / cast spells are just cooler looking than guys. I wasn't always like this, in 11, my only character was a Galka, in Lineage 2 it was a dwarf male, when WoW came out it was a human male paladin... I guess when I really changed was when I played my female undead warrior and had the "flipping" attack animation.

Anyways, the real point of my OP was that this is the only MMO series I've ever encountered that harbors these ill feelings towards male players that play female characters, and I've always found that amusing, because in the end what does it really matter?

You are throwing out blanket conclusions based on your own small little world that you live in, hence the ignorance. I play a female lala and I'm a guy. I know many others. In your world does that make us all pedophiles because thats what we made out characters specifically so we can stare at them from behind? Things may not be so obvious as you seem to think...

I've heard this excuse since '04 in FFXI and I rebuttal it with "I don't get turned on by pixels" everytime.

Witcher 2?
Good game with a very special pace (in a good sense) in the combat but why cant Geralt ever show his stuff when the females show it all?
And why does the water look so bad in that bath scene? Those polish guys could learn a thing or two from SE

To get on topic again it makes me happy we will be able to recreate our characters. I did a few poor choices when I started (my attempt on a japanese hairstyle look awful. And why on earth did I chose that ugly tattoo ?)
Only positive thing is that I play a gladiator so I don't have to scare away any nearby children with my ugly face
