[dev1381] Sanction-ready gear can now be obtained in exchange for company seals.

“Sanction" is the name given to a process of gear enhancement which involves the casting of any one of a range of enhancing spells on equipment specially crafted to harbor enchantments. The sanction status can be received at the headquarters of each Grand Company, and for the duration of its effect (three hours Earth time) grants a bonus to the efficacy of certain gear. Such gear can be identified by viewing their help text.

Bonuses granted include:
Vitality: +40 / Accuracy: +30 / Attack Power: +45 / Piety: +35

Like Final Fantasy XI, the game specs will be extremely high for the time, but in about 5 years, an average machine can run it on max settings with little to no issues. Tanaka also expressed interest in making a benchmark program available.

I played around with that in my head for a while. I think it's "Check the Bed", though who knows what that means.

Some really great stuff in here. I was hoping for good things in Hamlet Defense, and I was still pleasantly surprised. I particularly like how the DoH/DoL contributions aren't just mindless "craft this, turn in to improve the camp!" They have that, but the stuff you can do during the combat section sounds a lot more involved, if only because there are explosions going off while you're trying to concentrate.

From what I see DoL/H get 50 hours to gather materials in real life, than 25 hours of nonstop battle? dam son...

Regardless of patch content, which is pretty substantial, the biggest news to me here is that it appears the FFXIV team is back on schedule per the Version 2.0 roadmap:

http://wdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/download/en/FFXIV_2.0_Roadmap_EN.pdf

I realize we've been told the current patch team is different from the 2.0 team, but there were still components of the patches schedule prior to 2.0 that needed to go into place before the radical shift.

1.21 was late by the roadmap, but a quick turnaround on 1.22 has it right on the money. Given that, it appears that sometime in the next three months we're going to see the final patch for FFXIV 1.0 with 1.23. That June 2012 E3 trailer can't get here quick enough.

I gotta say, I am in love with the idea that we can now turn in items during Hamlet def for Anima. It's about time crafters and gathers get some love for their constant need for travel... I just hope it's more than one Anima per turn-in... Otherwise it's gonna be a long 50 hours...

And it sounds like the items are only available to crafters and gatherers and only 45+... A little painful.

I especially like the example of a +15 HP bonus for equipping 3 or more pieces of GC gear! That's just what my tank needs! Time to start farming seals O.o

On a serious note, the patch looks great and I can't wait to see this new Darksteel armor :P

It also looks like they finally may have fixed pld. Increased effectiveness of blocking, and overall damage reduction, plus materia that can add Block+.

But then again, people prefer damage output over damage mitigation.

Wow, another awesome looking patch!

I'm a little confused about instanced hamlet defense and the 8 man pt's as I was thinking this would be something in the openworld you would go do when you didn't feel like building a party. However server limitations probably won't allow it to go smoothly and if pick up groups form at the hamlet easily I am all for it. Now we just need a little dot by our name visually showing that we are seeking ^^

Yoshi just posted in the JP forums saying the PLD reforms are coming in 1.22b. see http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/14967-Translations-%28JP-to-English%29?p=660789&viewfull=1#post660789

Haven't played since launch but almost done updating as I read these patch notes. Great to see new content being released, the job system and all this makes me excited to start playing again. Hamlets sounds fun and its good to see they're incorporating the craft/gathers into it as well! Can't wait to see what else they come out with before and after 2.0

Will Final Fantasy XIV not be available to play til April 26th? And I personally think they need to do better in the gear and auction house system. And to Also put a mailbox in the game. And that bed thing is going to be super sweet hopefully they will make it so you can put some of your stuff in there like a bank!

[dev1369] Adjustments have been made to the manner in which damage reduction from shields is calculated. With this, it is now easier for blocks to take effect when fighting enemies of a level higher than your own.

It looks like the paladin is getting a buff ontop of the shield buff in this patch.

The translation that was made on the official forums were a bit confusing imo, but yeah seems like they will get more HP and dmg. And WAR seems to be getting a nerf too.

Overall I look forward to the patch, seems like some fun things are coming. Haven't fully grasped how Hamlet will work, but the more content the better :)

I didn't see any info on the Warrior nerf or the Paladin HP... was that in a dev post?

As long as you've done the first few story quests than you can talk to npc in the adventurer's guild, who sends you 50-100 feet away to another and from there you get access.

A bit bummed hamlet is instanced, but i'll get over it. Changes look pretty good, even if this is an incomplete patch. I got really psyched about the LS options..and then saw the part about offline, D: what a bummer lol. Still can't wait to get in and give it a go, updater is going a snails pace for me this time around so it'll be a bit >.<

Edit* I should add, I will be bummed if the hamlet is instanced per group. If its an instanced area where multiple groups show up i'm ok with that. Their wording makes it sound its instanced per group, but maybe i'm wrong about that.

Perhaps not... but I would!!! Smiley: jester Smiley: moogle

I am excited about hamlet defense and a little disappointed by the level restrictions for DoH/DoL. Otherwise, I'm pretty pleased.
