Newbie Questions from a FFXI'erFollow

I just installed and activated FFXIV last night and got into the game. I'm really enjoying it, but I have a few generic newbie questions that I'd like to try to get cleared up.

1) Healing. In XI you can hit H and you'll rest. I know that you have to go to a crystal for your MP, but is there a hotkey like there is in H? Is there any validity that /sit regens your health faster?

2) Which of the 'mages' is more attuned to being a WH? I've read that there are the 'jobs' that you unlock later as you level, but are they specific to the.... whatever they call it that you pick in the beginning?

I'm sure I'll have more as I go along. I appreciate the answers in advance.

1) There closest thing to hitting H to heal would be to stand still. After a certain amount of time you will start healing more rapidly and the longer you stand still the faster it heals yourself.
2) The closest to whm would be conjurer which eventually you can do quests that allow you to use your levels on conjurer as a whm.

When you are in active mode, I.E. you hit the right trigger you will not regen HP and MP. If you are in passive mode, it is as if your are using "H" in eleven. So really it's more convenient , as long as your in passive mode your mp should regen.

Good deal, thank you. I thought I would have more questions, but it doesn't look like I do. The game does a good job of explaining things. I did make the mistake of making a Pugilist and starting -not- in Ul'dah, and I've not yet figured out where to buy gear for my pugilist yet. I saw the NPC at the Drowning Wench as well as the market area, but overall it's very disorganized and difficult as **** to find gear.

I have to admit I'm very very fascinated by this game. It's really well done. It must have come leaps and bounds from it's initial release.

To reply a couple days late, /sit works like the rest command from 11. You can find lv 1 weapons for all the classes, war/magic (combat) and hand/land (crafting) in the inns.

Mithra, Rank 4 Windhurst. Cerberus shard.
