Hey everyone,

I have searched the forums and found this problem was common in older posts but I just started to play again and have been encountering this problem quite a few times. I will be playing and the game screen will randomly flash all black and then a directx device is not detected will pop up and make me restart the game.
I have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 with the current drivers as well as direct x 9.0c for FFXIV. I went and reinstalled the graphics card drivers and directx 9.0c and still have the same problem. My graphics in the game are set fairly low and AA is turned all the way down but I still can't figure out how to fix this. Is anyone else still having this problem and if so have you found a fix that works?

Thanks for your time everyone!

*edit* I am also playing in windowed mode not full screen.

Click Start, Run, type dxdiag, hit enter.

Watch the little progress bar on the lower left of the System tab and when it's done you can click on to the other tabs (probably display) and see if there are any errors. There is a notes section at the bottom. You might also verify that the driver version listed is accurate, I've had issues before where Windows isn't detecting/using the correct driver even though I'm sure I installed the right one.

The only other thing I can think of is trying to play in full screen and see if it happens. I know the game seems to run much better for me in full screen mode versus windowed mode. Not optimal if it is your only computer I know, but worth a shot.

Well i found a fix that is working so far *knock on wood*
I went into my nvidia card settings and force disabled AA. Apparently it was still enabling AA and causing me to crash. Ever since i turned that off I haven't had one incident.
