Lag Issues With FFXIVFollow

#1 May 10 2012 at 7:51 PM Rating: Decent
I've been wanting to play this game for several years, but I thought I would wait for them to work out some of the issues with it. I just started yesterday, and had only minor graphical lag. Today, after the maintenance, I can't even move my character without blinking or it having a 3 second lag after I move.

Here are my specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2300 @ 2.8GHz Quad-core
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1Ghz (
RAM: 6 GHz
OS: Windows 7 Home 64x (SP1)
AV: ESET Smart Security 5

My latency seems a little low, at maximum I see 48R/48S.
I've forwarded the recommended ports, but it didn't seem to do much of anything.

Do you have any suggestions for me?

I've been having lag issues and so have a couple of my ls mates after patch. It wasn't an issue before. Wonder how many else are affected.

I don't know, but I hope we can figure out a solution to it soon. :(

I'm going to switch off my beta driver and try the newest normal release.

Send and Receive isn't the best way to get your latency.
Make sure the game is open and logged in b4 you try this.
Open CMD (WinKey+R, Type CMD & press enter) Once The window is open type in Netstat and press enter. It will now list all your current connections. You're going to be looking for "ESTABLISHED" connections. If you run any programs that keep active connections You might have a few. I've found that most the Final Fantasy XIV IPs start with a 2XX range. Durandal "My server's IP" for instance is Once you have your severs IP just type in ping THE.IP.OF.YOUR.SEVER and press enter and you've got your latency. Sorry if I'm over complicating your question here so moving on.

But the lag you speak of seems to be effecting a lot of people. After this last patch I'm at the point I'm almost totally unable to play, at least doing dungeons and what not. Several other people in my Linkshell have the same problem. I've ran several Trace routes to try to find the cause of the latency spikes and had several linkshell members and only found that the people getting routed threw "" get better latency and play-ability with the game then the people getting routed threw "tokyjp01".

System specs don't seem to effect much. I'm running the game on
HDDs: C300 128GB SATA III SSDs in raid
RAM: DDR3 16GB @ 2133Mhz
Video: Evga Nvidia 680 Video
NIC: Killer NIC

I've literally spent well over $5000 USD in computer upgrades and network gear and changes of ISPs trying to play the game better. I think at this point its just a waiting game for version 2.0 and hope that it fixes it.

Hope something in here helps you.

Thank you for your detailed reply. I will try what you've mentioned. I rolled by my video driver to the newest non-beta and it seems to help quite a bit. I think this might be a compatibility issue as well as server lag.
