Too busy playing TERA. So frustrating. Those **** Elins... How the **** am I supposed to bust a thick rope of hot, white magic across their foreheads when their boxes are so small? /fume

I... wow. Rare is the time I'm at a loss for words. I'm not sure whether to be impressed by the syntax or horrified at the implication.

Hit boxes! I totally meant hit boxes! Actually now that I read it outloud... I guess I'm living up to my name :D

This is true, but you have to connect and sign in before you can switch to offline mode so it doesn't help me unless I can connect; in which place I don't really need to play offline anyway...

Either way, my point was that most people have connections so it shouldn't be an issue. Being stationed overseas (or just traveling there in my case) are exceptions.

So you want to wait for maintenance time like Ubisoft's Anno 2070 (when they switched server) on your single player game? Good for you.

And I don't support Origin. Steam does not require you to connect and sign in online. I bought my games on Steam, like Skyrim for example. Oh snap.

Origin I could care less about since most of the games I play on it aside from BF2 are single player. I never really bothered because I'm usually doing other stuff when I travel (either work or vacation), but according to steam's site you are required to login once to enable offline mode. You login asking steam to remember your password, open the steam menu and then select offline. This also only works if the game doesn't need to be updated. Again, not a big deal but something you can't do unless you prepared it while you had internet access.

You only need to log on online once and activate the game. Only once, every single time there after you can have it offline even "logging in" Steam and play your game library. I keep my Skyrim un-updated during the backward flying dragon awsum sauce update like that.

Since you don't know how Steam works, let me break this to you: I have Skyrim on my laptop (not where I usually play) and last time (also first time) I was online to validate through my laptop was last Nov. I can still play it now, whenever I want, offline. In addition, Updating game is optional and you can tick it off, you are not forced to update.

Steam's website 'How to' wrote:
Using Offline Mode on a PC.

Please follow the instructions below to configure Offline Mode on your PC:

1. Start Steam online - make sure the Remember my password box on the login window is checked.

Link for your reading pleasure.

Step. Fvcking. One.

Again, I looked this up when I was in a place I didn't have access to internet. I tried and failed for the obvious reasons to login to steam so I was not able to use it offline. It doesn't matter if you want to update your game or not, you still need to be able to login at least once to enable offline mode. Period.

Complaining about having to go online a single time to activate a game... in an online forum. I'm pretty sure anyone able to read this is able to access the internet once.

I wasn't complaining. I was just pointing out that you are required to connect to Steam to set the preference if you wish to play offline prior to actually playing offline. Khornette disagrees despite the fact that the directions taken directly from their official website on how to access single-player games offline clearly state that you need to be able to login first.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled 'D3 sucks' thread...

Because you need to set it up once for your lifetime, that it is pretty sucky? How about you have to be online every time you play, all the time? And if they feel like it and give you a ban hammer on your single player game, that your purchase will be gone now? Bioware and EA had that nasty little situation in the past, and they quickly rectified it as temporary ban.

Blizzard forum is that way, please go there and complain about how Steam only need to be set up offline once in a lifetime and it's a HUGE disadvantage compared to Diablo 3. Also you don't have to go through Steam to play non-Steam game, like FFXI for example. Oh but I bet you don't even know Steam and non-Steam, cause everything available on Steam must be Steam game yeah?

Are you really that hard up to lose silly arguments on the interwebs?

All I did was share a similar experience. I didn't rant and rage about how bad Origin and Steam suck. If it had really bothered me that much, I would have figured out how to play offline(which I actually did). The only reason I've continued on with you is because you tried to insult my intelligence, but all you really succeeded in doing was making yourself look like an *** by posting wrong information it would have taken you a whole 20 seconds to find yourself.

Khornette wrote:

Not quite. There may be several games that you can do this with, but there are also quite a few that check for and attempt to update prior to launch. If you can't connect to verify then it simply won't launch.

Khornette wrote:

False. You could have just posted an apology for the unkind remarks or at the very least admitted your mistake, but you continue on...

Khornette wrote:

Probably the closest I'll get from you to an admission that you were wrong, but if you'd actually read the example I used you would have seen that I didn't have access to a connection to do that. It was not possible for me to login and switch modes at the time so this information(which I actually found for you and used to correct you) would have done me no good, nor would I have been able to find it without a connection.

FFXI can't be played offline so it doesn't really have any place in the discussion since we're talking about running single player games. Personally, I don't give a sh*t what is available on Steam. I only care about the games I own. Since you're so fu¢king bad at comprehending what you read, lets have a pop quiz!

Which game did I say I was attempting to play through Steam?

If you guessed correctly then congratulations! Heroic Cookie +3 for you! Go ahead and post directions(non-crack please) to how I can login to that game without Steam so I can promptly apologize and thank you.

If not, I'll give you a hint why you can't find that information:

It's a fu¢king Steam game which can only be opened through Steam...

Anyway, this cake is great.
It's so delicious and moist. Smiley: smile
Look at me still talking when there's D3 to do.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I spent $60 on Diablo 3 and have already got more than my money's worth out of it. I have spent $0 on FFXIV because SE failed to make the game enjoyable.

I'm sure there is a moral here somewhere.

I have 0$ on D3 as I got it for free with the year of WoW I paid (for WoW, not for D3), and I have since then already returned to FF14, because Blizzard failed to make the game enjoyable (to me)

Funny how that works? Sample size of one, people having different opinions, to each his own and all that jazz.

Touche, sort of.

Millions upon millions have bought Diablo 3. Millions upon millions paid $60 (though, I'm sure some percentage got it for "free" via their WoW account). Of those, how many paid for FFXIV? 10%? And I think I'm being pretty generous, but will happily be corrected if my numbers are off. That sample size of one just grew to millions. This is why Blizzard is doing so well and SE is not.

Yeah, I was hacked about an hour after I activated their 'authenticator'.

Then when I ask to have all my info removed from battle.net... got a msg telling me it'd take two weeks.

Adding Blizzard to my list of game companies that I'll never do business with again.

The 'free' logic only works if you were already on an annual pass.
