Monthly CostFollow

Hey guys, just installed FFXIV. I'm a little confused about how much I'll be paying monthly. I currently have the 30 day trial set up and have opened up all 8 slots. From reading online, I'm a little confused if the pricing has already been adjusted, or will be adjusted after the 2.0 update. Is it cheaper to just have 1 or 2 slots open now, then wait until the 2.0 update before unlocking the rest?

Sorry if this is all explained somewhere, but it is late here and I need to get to bed. Please post a link to the thread if there is already one started.

As of right now, its $9.99 for the monthly service with 1 character. When you finish your free month, since you have all 8 character slots open, you'll be paying $9.99 + $21 for each of the 7 additional character slots for a total of somewhere around $31. I highly suggest you close those additional 7 character slots and stick to just the 1 included in the original 9.99. You will be busy enough with that 1 character unless you have another family member who wants to play the game on the same account. If you have another family member who wants to play with you, you'll need to find another game key and make a 2nd account. With the new legacy campaign, they will be introducing a new pricing strategy for after 2.0 hits. When 2.0 hits, there will be 2 pricing plans. Entry plan will be $12.99 a month for service and 1 character. Standard plan will be $14.99 a month for service and 8 character slots. If you subscribe for a total of 90 days prior to the start of 2.0 beta testing, you'll qualify as a "legacy" member. When 2.0 hits, any legacy member, as a special thank you, will receive a special discounted price of $9.99 for the standard plan ($5 savings) for the entire duration of ffxiv service. My source for 2.0 pricing. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/43218

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will delete the unused slots until the release of 2.0. Hopefully I'll be able to hop on the Legacy subscription.

I'm not sure how long until 2.0 beta testing, so I'm not sure if that starts in less than 90 days. All you need is a grand total of 90 days subscription, not 90 days straight before beta testing starts. You'll know that you qualify when they send you an e-mail stating it and you'll also see the new red and black dalamud logo in the upper left corner of your character select screen.

I believe the current ETA for Beta is around October/November, so if you signed up in May and pay for June-September you should qualify. I think anyone who signs up in June is going to be cutting it close.

It looks like I made the decision to join at the right time. I dropped my characters down to 2. I'm going to drop it down to 1 before my free trial month ends. That way I can save a few bucks. Thanks for the help guys.

One other thing to consider is the 30day free trial.

That, I assume, will not count toward the 90days of paid time. I am one of those people. I will barely escape that window. I joined so I could have the legacy patch and benefits. So, I joined April 23, + 30 days free, I start paying May 23. Then I have 90days from that point, which will be in August. I got lucky, lets hope I input the right credit card information... I really wanted the Legacy stuff and price. My $15 now for 3 months is well worth it in the long run, should I get the $999 always price.

I hope anyone who joined recently can squeeze out the legacy stuff in time. Goodluck.

What the, since when does catwho play FFXIV?
I must admit, I don't follow FFXIV General much anymore, but I'm still surprised.

I uninstalled yet again, after the free campaign thinger.
