Anyone Using Eorzea Clock for Android?Follow

Hey, everyone. I'm the developer of the Eorzea Clock app for Android, which I wrote back in 2010 during the beta. Since I never really ended up playing FFXIV, and haven't really done anything with it since 2010, I was looking at releasing it under an open source license (after I clean it up a bit--it was my first Android app so it's a little messy).

1. Does anyone still use the app anymore? I didn't bother to put any sort of analytics package in the app, so all I really have is the number of downloads and the number of active installs to go by. Should I even bother?
2. Is the clock still accurate? It matches Zam's clock, but someone told me it's not accurate to the game anymore?

Thanks!

Well, hello there. First off let me say, I have no real feedback and anything I say probably shouldn't be used but who knows, maybe they are awesome ideas, toward your final decision. However, I do have something to say.

1) Good job. IDK how hard it is to create those things but I like it.
2) The clock does match the in game clock, just checked. But it is not exact. Its like .2 or .3 seconds off (Same goes for the FFXI clock)
3) The leve timer is also just barely off. (To be honest its not an issue, unless you wanted to be exact with both or you had a 1 second window to do something)
4) "Do I still use it?" Answer: Define use? I look at it, I have used the wiki part if it before but to be honest, I wish that was more friendly. It takes you away to an external site, duh, but it adds another step, however, you do get to pick from a few sites so that actually is a great idea. One is bound to have the information you seek.
5) Maybe you can add a few other timers to it, Leve, Guild Tasks, I'm sure there is a few other timer types that I don't know about as a new FFXIV player.
6) Maybe you can add a Rested Exp Bonus Timer, one that you start and stop, and shows the exp bonus you will get?
7) Can we have an option to change backgrounds, more FFXIV types, of course?
8) Drop the FFXI timer for more FFXIV support? Then just make a separate FFXI timer.
9) Improve the alarm function, I can only use one type of alarm sound which is my current notification sound, maybe add a repeating, until dismissed, FFXIV sound? Maybe adding a real time alarm? I like gimmicks, I might use that as my real alarm, with FFXIV sounds, of course. I like the set up now though, but I don't know FFXIV days in relation to real time so helping bridge that gap would be nice.
10) Add multiple alarms?
11) I have the free version, can I get these additions for free, since I am telling you, and I would also like 15% of profit when you get more downloads and start adding the google adds. Haha, not joking... lol

I think as FFXIV starts becoming a real game you will see more and more downloads. I'm sure you might have noticed more people recently. After 2.0 you will have more. SO update it, keep it fresh, and add features, the business will only improve as 2.0 approaches. Goodluck.

Thanks for the feedback, WFO.

I'm glad the clock and leve timer are still within a good margin of error. That probably has to do with your system clock on your device being slightly off from the server's time, because it's not checking a clock somewhere else but calculating the current time based on your device's clock.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to add a lot of other timers, since I'm not currently playing I wouldn't really know where to start or how to test it, which is why I was thinking of open-sourcing and letting others handle adding all of those features. The exception might be allowing you to set the different notification options and images, which I was actually working on at one time, but it was my first app so I didn't know how to do it.

I'd be happy to give you a free copy of the paid version, though I think I'm probably going to axe that version in the next update and give the free version all of the functionality. Actually the reason I haven't updated in so long (besides being busy with other things) is that I've lost the private key used to sign the application package, so I can't put out an "update" for everyone to download. I'll have to release a new app, and probably kill off the old one. I'm currently trying to find the best way to do that, so hopefully everything will work out.

Thanks for the update. AS a first app, I would say that was a good starting point. Well, post here or on the app when you update so I know to go download the new one :) Good luck and thanks!
