Questions from a returning playerFollow

I've been looking through patch notes to get a general feel for the game since I quit playing, but I still have a couple questions. I played at launch and quit maybe 2-3 months into it.

1) How party-centric is the game these days? When I was playing I soloed quite a lot, occasionally in small 2-3 parties.
1a) Is partying the quickest way to level up?
1b) Does end game content require large raid-like groups or can smaller groups tackle the content?

2) I don't remember any of my account info and I don't think I have my cd-keys anymore to have SE help me get it back so I'll likely have to start over. Leveling up was quite quick at launch, have they rescaled the process? How long will it take a new character to get to end game content?

3) Did they ever get rid of the whole physical level/class level thing? I read that they might be but not sure. How does leveling work now?

4) I see a lot of talk about FFXIV 2.0 but don't see a ton of info over it, just a couple screenshots here and there, where can I read up on the upcoming changes, and is there a release date yet?

5) Are there any places I can buy a digital copy of FFXIV online to download and start playing today?

Thank you for taking the time to answer any of my questions!

1) Lot of activities require parties/work best when done in a party, but you might find it difficult to find people to join you.
1a) Yes.
1b) There's content for 8 people parties and 4 people parties. Usually the content is designed with the maximum party size in mind as far as balance is concerned.

2) Leveling is quicker. It doesn't take that long to level at all.

3) There's only class level now, and each level grants you stat points to distribute on a class-basis (so not universally). Skills were rehauled a while back. At 30 you can unlock a Job that levels alongside your Class (and vice-versa) and gets its own skills.

4) There's a ton of info (4 large PDF's included) here:

Alpha>Beta starts in September.

I find myself soloing most of the time to get levels.
Endgame content requires a party of 8 (a full party) in most cases. Since launch they've reduced the party size from 15 to 8 and you get a full party bonus.

Leveling up is even faster now. Maybe a month or so to level 50 at most if you play very casually.

They dumped Physical levels, renamed Class rank to level, and let you allocate stats to individual classes. However, you no longer get to allocate all your stats this time around, just a few.

Thanks for the quick responses, with regards to leveling speed and partying...is partying significantly faster than soloing? Can I still solo even at later levels if I'm in the mood for something more casual and not in the mood to party. How much slower is soloing compared to partying if you were able to put it into words?

Also, when it comes to soloing, do some classes do it faster than others? For example, if I had to compare what I mean to Final Fantasy XI, melee jobs tended to be a little faster at some points in the game because they could burn the mobs down without needing to rest much, whereas MP based jobs had to rest their MP.

Edit: Is Windowed + ShiftWindow the best way to be "fullscreen" and be able to alt+tab or is there a better way?

Edit #2: For some reason the game runs perfectly smooth in fullscreen, but seems a little choppy in Windowed mode. I have a high end system, i5 2500k and a GTX 590. I made sure the GPU wasn't in power saving mode or anything like that and the clock speeds are in 3D mode even in Windowed, so I'm not sure why I'm getting a rather noticeable performance drop.

Solo, you can roughly get 1 level per set of 4-8 leves, so about 1 level every 1.5 hours (early levels are fastest, mid 20's is slowest, around 30 it pics up again and mid 40's you can just go farm items or pop triggers and level up with a purpose). In a party (30+) if it's optimized I THINK it's about 1 level per 40 min or less depending on the camp and if other people are there. I've honestly never timed it. Solo or in a party I net multiple levels a day and for the most part things aren't dragging which is all that matters to me considering I'm now leveling up classes I really don't care all that much about, but am leveling to benefit my LS and increase invite rates to PUGs when my LS is on a different schedule than I am.

Pretty sure your CPU is bottlenecking your GPU, but I could be wrong. Anyway I'm assuming you have all settings on max? If so you may need to turn off Ambient Occlusion or Depth of Field in windowed mode.
