Hi again,

I've just started playing the game and picked a Botanist to play as. Now I'm a little confused! Do I have to play this type of character to be able to do some gathering skills or can I pick say a Conjurer and visit a trainer to learn some crafts? Also, is am I correct in thinking that disciples of the land are like crafting classes?

Anyone help me out here because I wanted to play a caster type class but take up a gathering skill/craft.

Thanks

You can play whatever class you want, all on a single character. Just buy a staff, equip it, and voila, now you're a mage.
Should all be explained on the official forums, though. Left side, tutorials.

Buy a weapon, equip weapon, class and appropriate skills change.

All the classes are broken down into 4 types:
Disciple of War or just DoW - gladiator, pugilist, lancer, archer and marauder.
These are the physical attacker types.

Disciple of Magic or just DoM - conjurer and thaumaturge
These are the magical types

Disciple of Hand (DoH) - weaver, alchemist, goldsmith, armorer, blacksmith, carpenter, leather worker, culinarian
They are the crafters

Disciple of Land (DoL) - fisher, botanist, miner.
They gather raw materials

The DoW and DoM also have jobs you can unlock later on.

Like the people above said, you just equip the main hand weapon or tool and you are instantly that class. To locate equipment I use http://mooglebox.com

What server are you on? Someone might be able to answer your questions ingame as well as here.

There is no trainer, with classes you gain skills and traits automaticly as you level. With jobs you have to do quests to unlock some of the skills.
