I've seen info on the net, but i'm getting mixed reviews on the matter........ Is version 2.0 going to totally wipe everything players have worked for, or it will just allow players to continue what they were doing?

As much as i like the new ideas of the game, wouldn't that make old players upset for all the work they've put into the game?

They get to keep it. Character data will not be wiped. The real question is, "will there be enough new content so old players will want to start over?" I think if FFXIV is going to suceed it will need lots of new quests and low level content. It will have to make all the faithful players with all these level 50 classes want to experience it all over again.

I'm really not sure what people are expecting for 2.0. For those of us who have been playing since day 1, the update to 2.0 will be just like every other major patch that we've had. It'll basically be just another version update with some new content. The main thing that is changing in 2.0 is the graphics system and the servers that the game will run on. Also, the world map will be divided into many smaller parts instead of the major 3 zones that we currently have. All the smaller areas will be fully unique, so you wont have to worry about looking at the same old bush as you run down the road. They already made most of the major battle changes they plan on making to the game. They would change other things that players are wanting, like less laggy UI, but they are limited to how the current server works. Once they move everything over to the new servers, the game will be more optimized allowing lower end machines to run the game smoothly instead of needing fairly high end computers to run it smoothly. Other changes will include a revamped gathering system. It'll be pretty similar to that of the battle system, only instead of fighting mobs you get to mine or chop trees. From some of the pics I've seen of the new gathering system, it looks like you'll be able to choose which skill you use instead of have it be completely random.

I'm expecting tons of crying, complaining, and rage quite.Personally I expect I'll enjoy it at least slightly more than current version ^.^

FFXIV v2 won't be a complete re-write of the game so why would they wipe data, the core will be the same. They are just sprucing it up, adding good things and reworking stuff that were considered failures.

It's still FFXIV, people are way overplaying what v2 actually is.

You overestimate it, every time FFXI got a new expansion and new areas it didn't make me feel I was playing a whole new game. Beta starts soon, and then people will see what v2 really is.

Sure did with Abyssea. And it was good in many ways.
