Good news for any German FFXIV fans.

Square Enix will deliver a world first gameplay presentation of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn at Gamescom next month.

It'll also offer the first-ever European hands-on demos of Hitman: Absolution, Tomb Raider and Sleeping Dogs, according to a press release picked up by NeoGAF.

Square Enix Europe CEO Phil Rogers said: "This year we have a mix of some of the industry's most identifiable characters and a host of highly original content - it's going to be a great show."

Console and PC games at Gamescom:

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
Hitman: Absolution
Tomb Raider
Sleeping Dogs
Quantum Conundrum
Final Fantasy VII

Mobile games:

Final Fantasy Dimensions
Motley Blocks
Mensa Academy

Gamescom organiser Koelnmesse has said it expects over 300 new products and game premieres at this year's event. More than 370 exhibitors have signed up to show off their wares at next month's trade fair, which takes place in Cologne, Germany from August 15-19.

The CVG article shows a screenshot from (I think) pre-1.0 release... nice.

No thinking necessary, that screenshot was indeed shortly after first Gamescom.

It's also likely a stock photo, which is the norm for e-news and even tv news these days... which is a shame (though sometimes funny when Fox is talking about playstation MW3 or something and has a stock photo of the gen one PS or when some site use a picture of an Atari box or something equally stupid to us gamers)

I understand using discretion when new gameplay is about to be featured in less than two weeks, but I'd love for SE to give us just one or two screenshots. I mean what's the harm in that? Especially for those of us still waiting for the PS3 release. It has been too long since we've seen something concrete in regards to what our experience will be like.

I'm curious to see how the PS3 compares to the PC. Obviously PC will look better, but I'm currently playing DCUO for the PS3 and there are often some significant lag issues due to what I'm assuming are PS3 limitations.
