I'm trying to download Final Fantasy XIV but the download is EXTREMELY slow, I am currently downloading at 6.7KB/s:

I've opened the ports that this website says to:
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/BT/BTHomeHub2/Final_Fantasy_XIV.htm
yet the download is still the same speed.

How do I fix this? If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

My advice (and I may get flamed for this) is to torrent it if you are getting unacceptable speeds. The download client is just a really terrible torrent client, so you can find actual torrent files in your XIV folders, click them and they will open in a real torrent client if you have one on your computer. That's what I do when the speed is terribad. Luckily with the last patch the game client seemed to work okay, but in the past I had 24+ hour waits on stuff. Sucky.

What do you mean?

I just downloaded UTorrent and attempted to do one of the patches in the folder, but it is only downloading at 0.8KB/s worse than the downloader.

might just be because you are one of the only people "on" that part. (I know I have ceased hosting older patches, long time ago) Someone might know of somewhere to direct download all the patches, but I, unfortunately, do not know where that is.

[EDIT: Also, wish SE had options for direct download/torrenting because some people simply aren't able to torrent because of network restrictions - some people at university for example]

I recently did 3 fresh installs of FF14 it was always took 30 minute for the Disk to finish and 2 to 2 hours and 30 minutes for the broadband patches to finish. If your doing a single patch download yes those take hours at kilobytes.
