Nice, but... am I the only one who expected a gameplay-heavy HD trailer @ www.ffxiv.com?

I have. Don't see the correlation here. Aion's combat system ran on cooldowns, and at my time of leaving, did not have a party attack system. Theirs were more situational combos.

It's coming, I'm sure within the next few days we'll get the English version in HD and definitely more "official" :) Just thought this would suffice for now!

True, this does run on cooldowns, but there are other resources also to manage.

There's also an entirely different feel to Aion - that this isn't even close to replicating.

Might have to do with the lack of flying and aerial combat and open world PVP...

Oh, and the whole thing where the world is inverted and people lived in the interior until the core exploded, etc.

Where Aion is primarily single-class development system (baring the fact that you chose your advanced at level 10). Not to mention you can pretty much walk away from all your crafting. Mind you, some people like that sort of auto-crafting.

Then there's the class/job system on top of being able to change them...

Granted, Aion has you riding birds on occasion. But guess which company coined that first?

So instead of the sarcasim, why don't you actually cite where you're seeing Aion in FFXIV. Cause I am curious - but I don't see it.

See this is the hyrist I LIKE!!!

First off we where speaking strictly of combat, wish as you have pointed out, both run on cooldowns, and yes other resources as well, for Both:)

As for the feel, well we cant talk about that, since there is no feel to speak off, since 2.0 is not out, and whatever we saw, was just walking, jumping etc etc, from that we can gather that 2.0 combat system will be pretty much your generic MMO combat system with a "Limit Break" added for flavor, again we have not been given any type of information as to what "Limit Breaks" will bring and if there are a variation of them, if you have different classes.

As for the lack of aeirial combat, true tsk tsk is that bad or good ? for me more variety is better, as for PVP, well we sure know wish game lacks that dont we ? and wish game is gonna add it ? Oh wish game is it ? FFXIV.(Wish btw i can assure you will bring a lot of problems :) )

As for the planet and if is inside out or whatever, that is lore related, want to talk about lore ? let's see what game, is literally replicating other mmo's ? Let's see in wish MMO'S have there been a "Cataclyst" or "Event" where the world has been changed in order to justify a redesign of the world etc etc.... Hmm Maybe Everquest ? Maybe Wow ? Tsk Tsk!! **** even FFVII.... Wish btw kinda sad seeing FFXIV resorting to literally borrowing concepts directly from the main series, when FFXI could stand in it's own two legs, yet this one literally remade the garlean empire into the empire of FFVI, and keeps borrowing concepts from FVII(Meteor, Materia, Limit Breaks.) Again FFXI was able to stand on its own 2 feet as far as lore was concerned..... What happened ?

As for chocobos, really ? You did know chocobos are a copy of Horseclaws from Nausicaa valle of the wind.... just saying you should know your Final Fantasy History....

As for classes... Novel concept, that so far has been lackluster, in fact one would consider it was nerfed with the current limitations it got, considering the orignal idea was much more "Freer" so to speak.

As for crafting.... Really FFXIV crafting sucks. get over it, it sucks, it's complicated for the sake of being complicated, and if 2.0 dreams of even being on the same market as it's competitors it will get nerfed to the ground :) (Just as classes will once PVP is released)

Here you are being purposefully inflammatory. Cut it out will ya?

As far as FFXIV's lore being reminiscent of previous titles
I'll remind you again, FFXIV is a fan-service title. That was announced pretty early and this is the second time I've flat out told you. Get used to that it ain't going away.

As far as lore compared to other MMOs. Why don't you take a look at every RPG in general when you generalize. There is always a propelling element that compels the story. The difference is, few of them actually have the event take place. Dalmud falling is closer to World of Warcraft's Cataclysm, than Aion's - as Aion's happened as purely back-story.

There needs to be an empasis that FFXIV can meet the standards of the generic MMO before it can surpass them. Remember, it's failed once already trying to advertise itself as 'unique'. And again, you haven't tied this directly to Aion in any way aside from the ways a Massive Multiplayer game relates to every other massive multiplayer game in history, including the one's yet to be released like Guild Wars 2.

So why did it ring 'Aion' to you in particular?

Also, small side note for you. Your use of "Wish" is improper. "Wish" is a synonym for desire. The word you are looking for is "Which."

Ostia, i've played Aion and I have no idea where you see Aion in the 10 minute video they showed. And please, for the love of god, correct your simple grammar. I don't even mind grammatical errors but when you use a word multiple times incorrectly (wish) I just can't take you seriously. You shouldn't be playing MMOs you should be reading a book or something. I just feel bad for you, that's all.

Kyara, contrary to popular belief, not everyone speaks or writes English as their native language - as is the case for Ostia. That's why I corrected him and didn't insult him on it.

Given people who are English speaking natives have easily and willfully displayed much, much worse grammar and spelling - I'd suggest being a touch lenient on those who take the effort to actually be multilingual.

My first language is Japanese, my second language is Guoyu, my third is Korean(Gyeongsang) and my first major language (4th) is English -- want to tell me you wouldn't take me seriously because English is the last language I've learned and I'll have grammatical errors?

You should probably ask if it's someone's first language or not, because In all reality, I hope you're learning a second language so someone can brush you off when you make a mistake writing your non-native language, that way you'll see how silly it is to do. As for the topic at hand -- It's really hard to make any firm judgments about this till we get actual SE video but it looks like the starting off with TP can make it become a spamfest and extremely hard for tanks to keep hate when you'll have 7-22 other DoW blasting off their best abilities the second the encounter starts -- you may say "you don't have to" but since when do the general population in MMOs actually think before they leap?

We still have people in XIV who can't properly combo, so removing that small bit of tactic (TBD) and just letting you fly free at the start is an even more motivator for spamming.

Sorry Jen, but at this point you're basing your enitre MMO experience off 'the worst of the bunch' in which case I can't agree with you.

Even now, with TP generation the way it is, players are wise enough to let the tank first establish hate in any fight in which it matters. And honestly, the 0 initial TP didn't matter anything from me as a Dragoon because I could gain 1.5k TP by the time I even get into melee range thanks to Invigorate and Jump, and I'm already getting into combos at that point.

And really, it has absolutely no effect on Mages who were front-loading their damage anyways.

And this is all assuming that the Tanks don't have any new hate methods, or don't benefit at all from having TP front-loaded as well.

We really can't make any judgement until we actually see the full party dynamic in action. But given the fact that the limit system seems to reward 'fine play' I don't believe 'spam fest' directly translates on that. This is another 'wait and see' situation.

Lol first of all, like i said, i don't care about grammar . It was easy blasting Ostia on his grammar because he runs his mouth way too much both here and on the official forums and has a know it all attitude about him. I can forgive him for his grammar.

Jennestia, are you the "senior moderator at ffxiv core" as you so proudly advertise in your official forum signature? Your English is good, you just need an attitude check; you come off a little conceded and also a bit of a know-it-all. And let me tell you that English is my third language, if that makes my telling Ostia off any more viable.

Ostia I do apologize. I didn't know English wasn't your native tongue.

Oh i don't mind a knock on my grammar here and there, after all i do not take the forums serious, as in i will not be personally offended by whatever any of you will say off or about me.
