I'm just trying to catchup with the current state of the game and hopefully find out any news on 2.0.

* What is the state of food & drink? Maybe it was just me, but back during NA release, it didn't seem like the food/drink
buffs really do much. Will there be any major changes to food & drink buffs when 2.0 comes out?

* Has the crafting system been changed since NA release? How do they address crafting bots? Do they look for
crafting botters outside of the city? I remember this one guy botting in a small cave out in the wilderness for weeks at a time.

* Have there been any changes to fishing / botany / mining since NA release? Will the current gathering system
be the same when 2.0 comes out?

* Back when I played both CON and THM, I felt that the THM was a better healer. Were both magic jobs supposed to
be healers? Since I've been gone, have they made any adjustments to them?

* Has there been any adjustments to the CON offensive spells? Back when I was on NM hunting teams, I was told
that I should be casting all thse elemental DoT spells. Is that still the case?

* Is there a good Wiki article or writeup on the advance jobs like White and Black Mage?

* Will there be a beta test for the PC version of 2.0?

* Have there been any major changes to equipment damage and seeking a crafter to fix your gear?

* Are retainers and market wards still the main way to buy/sell/repair? Any news if the current market ward
system will be used in 2.0?

* I personally burnt myself out during the first month at game release with crafting. Since I like the magic using jobs and
the archer, what crafting & gathering jobs should I concentrate on? Is there a write up somewhere for the crafting &
gathering jobs for mage types?

* How reliable is the macro system? Can the macros be messed up with lag?

* The post that had the Summoner screenshot, where those real?

i can answer a few of these since ive been back a few weeks now. before i get into it i must say the game is very different. it feels a lot more final fantasy than it started off as, and i can say i am having fun with it. can't wait for 2.0

1) food now gives a 3%~ experience bonus. they also give different bonuses depending what you eat but you will need to look at a conclusive list to see what those are. food isnt exactly neccessary though as it was in 11, maybe they will change that i don't know but the impact doesnt seem to be huge, at least from what ive seen.

2) crafting is easier to level now. if there is bots or not i dont know, but i have seen BLM burn parties that were clearly RMT.

3) don't now if this will change in 2.0 all the info isnt out yet for the game. they did say they want to define their roles better as wll as the crafters. like gatherers get stuff for crafters, crafters make armor for melee and mages, and melee and mages kill things.

4) CON is now WHM and THM is now BLM. don't know why the sudden change because THM and CON were the opposite they were now way back before i had quit. they completely overhauled all jobs and magic, and all those work differently than they did. classes can still use most abilities from other classes, but jobs specialize in the sense that you get more abilities, and there is less abilities you can use from other classes. WHM and BLM can only use stuff from 2/7 classes each.

5)eorzeapedia is a decent wiki, but with the game changing soon people have really not been adding stuff to the wiki so there is a lot of stuff that your going to have to maybe ask people in game about, or keep searching the internet. the classes and jobs and all their quests are done though so thats not a problem, but some quests and stuff dont have walkthroughs.

6) yes there will be a beta test (legacy members get priority)

7) you still need a crafter to repair stuff to 100% to sell things, and it is the cheapest thing to get someone to repair your gear for you. however gear damage (yellow) starts when your gear is at 10%, but that is only a warning, you dont get a stat loss. when your gear is 0% (red) you get no stats on it and have to repair it. the repair NPC now repairs anything you have to 99% for a fixed fee for pretty cheap. at 50 you should be making enough gil to pay him to repair your stuff if you want but i find gear still breaks faster than it should.

8)market wards still exist unfortunatley, and if your like me good luck setting up shop in ul'dah the wards are full. you can sell things in other cities if you dont mind waiting for a sale though. 2.0 will bring with it, finally, an auction house. so all this trouble will finally go away. for right now there is an item search counter like an AH would have with price history and all that, but its still lacking. when 2.0 comes out will be good.

9) for a guide about that i have no idea. im sure one exists somewhere.

10) macros...there still isnt enough of them and im surprised no one has asked yoshi yet (to my knowlege) about macro books like 11 has. i have been getting by just fine with the skill bar at the bottom after i learned to use it right. although i do want to use macros instead. there is auto attack now so spamming the 1 button on all jobs is gone, except for archer since for some reason, they cant figure out how to make a ranged auto attack. maybe this will change in 2.0. as for what i use macros for...just to equip gear after changing jobs, and my "2hr" (15 minute abilities).

11) the screenshots your referring to were (as far as we know) real. square enix accidentally leaked the summoner page with some info on it, but the job pictures at the top were placeholders for the real summoner pictures. looks like this will be a new class in 2.0

i hope that answered all your questions and if anyone has anything to add to what i said or correct anything feel free to do so :)

Quite the opposite:

It would seem only players playing up to the end of 1.0 get priority, Legacy players who've canceled their sub do not.

Food is almost essential even ignoring the XP boost, drinks aren't mandatory but a good tank at the very least will be popping bottles

Very interesting thank you everyone. Now with 2.0, will all the cities and surrounding lands going to change? Will I need to toss out all my fishing spot notes and maps?

The cities and surrounding lands are staying the same, geography wise.

As in Gridania is still north of Ul'dah which is east of Mor Dhona, etc...

The maps themselves are changing, so yes, the fishing spots and maps will be useless.

I have a question about the rest XP from taverns. So is that XP bonus only for the class/profession that you logged out with or is it global bonus pool for all your class/professions? Also does the game still have the XP system which will cut experience points if you gain too much within a certain amount of time? I can't recall the name for this.

Just before I left the game, I noticed team mates on pugs wanting to abandon their levequests. Is this still allowed? Are they doing it to maximize their XP rewards? Do players do that with their crafting & gathering levequests?

The rested xp can be used on any class/job not just the one you logged out on.

They removed the xp nerfing. (thank goodness)

You now get some xp when doing the leve and a large bonus when you hand it in so people don't abandon them anymore. Ok, sometimes people with low anima will abandon a crafting one.

I always felt 'cheap' abandoning a leve... its like I agreed to do this task but did it half assed for my own benefit.

What's the future for all the old equipment that's been flagged as "Dated" when 2.0 is launched? Do you think that they'll take the opportunity to get rid of that equipment or replace it with whatever replaced it?

I really like what they did with the synth process. No more annoying count down timer which sucked when I get a phone call or I had to a family member. I like that you get extra crafting XP if you take your time and synth a high quality item. I didn't see a huge Gil or XP bonus for completing the leve, but then again I'm kicking around L.1-10 leve.

Well I enjoyed trying out fresh some of the crafting & gathering professions again. I picked up a starter THM weapon to check it out. I was amazed with the changes to the THM. The first few elemental spells look and feel like a true FF Black Mage. I was looking all around for that dart attack that I used before. So is there a way to whack at a mob if you're out of MP or the mob is at a slither of life?

Walk up, auto-attack and pray.

Can someone give me a headsup on the story? Is A Realm Reborn techincally a "continuation"? It seems like it follows on from the current game about a metoer dropping onto the world and you get transported or something? Would it be a good idea to try and complete the cuirrent story or something?

All my gear is dated though and i'm lvl 25 :(

There should be an announcement about the dated equipment soon. Previously Yoshi stated that it would not be migrated to the 2.0 systems.

As for the story, coming up on the next patch (or it's happening now), the timeline is diverging, and we (the people playing now) are getting pulled into an alternate timeline. Everything up to the point where meteors crashing into the planet is happening, and the players currently in, will be protected by some magic that pulls them out of time, and will drop them into the world after the destruction is complete, and the world begins healing.

From there, the story of the war with the Garleans will start back up (there is even a tribute to this during one of the current quests where you go and pray to the 12).

When we (the current players) move to the "new" world, our quest lines will start over, our legacy achievements will be saved, but new achievements will be added to replace them (such as the explorer achievements), and we will need to go through earning them all over again.

If you are not playing right now, it would be VERY hard to complete everything before November 11th. It is probably still possible, but you need to complete all Grand Company quests, and that requires getting to 50, defeating the easy versions of the Primals, and quite a bit of questing and fighting. But, if you are interested in seeing how the world dies, it might be fun.

I still haven't been able to find people willing to try Van Darnus on Hard mode yet, but we have defeated a couple of the Atomos Void Mobs, and completed all the current GC and live quests, and now, just waiting for the next live quest to see how it all ends... Hopefully the will announce the last patch soon.

As for Crafting and Gathering, all of that is *COMPLETELY* changing in 2.0. They are actually moving them to be more inline with Combat classes, where your abilities go on the action bar, rather than that hibred POS menu system that doesn't work properly with macros. This means we lose the combat abilities (stun-lock anyone?), and will have class abilities much like a combat job that are specific to our class, and then abilities we can take from other classes (so you may want to complete Hamlet before 2.0, because 100% auto-progress will probably be lost).

This should allow us to finally get more than 5 abilities for crafting, and the ability to actually trigger abilities for Gathering, rather than hoping and praying they trigger, then after they trigger hoping they proc.

They have a screen shot for the crafting interface if I remember correctly, but I haven't seen one for gathering yet.

The boosted exp from synthing is awesome, and the reward system for crafting leves has been changed to give you more reasonable items based on the quality (there is teir 1, 2, and 3 rewards for crafting leves, 1 being the listed reward, then teir 2 ~100+, and teir 2 ~200+ if I remember correctly), and the rewards are now consistant, rather than getting like 3, 6, or 9 ore for completing a synth, you get a specific item, and sub items, related to the craft you are performing. Sometimes the reward is an item that is not related to your craft, but used as an ingredient you might need to make the item personally).

So how will they explain the story for those on the PS3 who had no chance to play the original story line?

The same way they will explain it to the new players. Only players from 1.0 get the back-story, everyone else just starts in the new world.
