Nobody seems to use the "feedback forum" much anymore so excuse me if this is in the wrong place. Here is my rant, and my hope that Squeenix fixes this....

I understand that the reuse of enemy models is probably necessary to reduce the overall load of the game. That being said, I won't ask them to stop reusing mobs for various levels. There are, however, some mobs that should never be reused at higher levels, EVER. I think anyone would agree that it is a bit ridiculous to believe that my "skill" has any bearing on whether or not I am successfully able to kill a l marmot with a SWORD. But hey, for the sake of argument, I am willing to let that go and call it "grunt work at low levels" Now, when I am running around at level 45 and realize that if was to attack that level 55 marmot I would die, I simply cannot digest that. We spend all this time leveling a character and building skills to realize that you could still potentially be beaten by a @#$%ing rat?

....Come squeenix. Seriously?

Most people don't respond to posts in the feedback area, but as you can tell most people read and rate up/down feedback threads.

If you want responses from the developers, then use the Lodestone Forums. While they may still read the forums here, they generally don't respond to topics on ZAM anymore.

After 10 years of playing FFXI, there is a rabbit somewhere in the world that can kick your ***. The marmots are the 'new' rabbits.

It's SE's MO...just except it.

on the same token, I don't think that my Lalafell should be able to hack at a giant boar's ankle until it dies... In FFXI I used to laugh when I would tank giant things with my little Taru... I think you just have to take certain things with a grain of salt (or SE should change the size of higher level mobs to match the level...)

I love high-level marmots.

I'll meet you half way though: they could stand to be a bit larger.

It's just lazy really, marmots should stop being regular mobs at a certain level, and be replaced with something else, unless is a "Special NM Marmot on a higher level" other than that, i dont want to see a marmot in la level 50 area....

Agreed. Some of the non FF players I have tried to get interested undoubtedly will say withing five minutes "why I'm a killing a @#$%ing squirrel?". And I can't defend it ! Because in reality , it IS stupid. At low levels sure. At level 15-???? there is absolutely no reason for it. Reuse gobbies, peistes, evil eyes- I don't know , just use anything ELSE.

I am a FF player, and marmots to me make no absolute sense, beyond the level 1-15 area, and marmots are not a FF staple monster, they have appeared if i remember from the top of my head in FFV, and VI, IX i really dont remeber killing marmots in any other game XD!

You killed sewer rats in FFXII a the beginning. But that was a part of the story before Vaan even becomes entangled in the story that makes him a hero. He was a lowly thief killing it for a reward. No reason there should be rats, marmorts, squirrels, sheep, or any other passive creatures that can kill you at level 50.
