Question about starting nation and classFollow

It is my understanding that our starting nation is determined by our first chosen class.

If 1) I have the ability to change my class on the fly by simply equipping a different item,
and 2) If I am unable to ever change my nation,

wouldn't it stand to reason that I should pick a class, at character creation, that is tied to my chosen nation and reequip to my chosen class once I'm in the game proper?

I prefer a mage class, but I have no desire to play/live as a part of Gridania/Order of the Twin Adder.

I think it's for the sake of easy access to the class guilds. Why not start as a melee class and then switch to a mage class at the first opportunity?

By the way, I'm not supporting their decision. I didn't like that announcement one bit.

Yes, that was my idea, too. I think I'll just pick a class that lands me in Ul'dah, or Limsa Lominsa.

I don't like the idea either, but I wasn't gonna waste my time complaining about crap I can't control. I'll just work around it and spend my time enjoying the aspects I do like.

I don't think it's as bad once you consider that in XI this would be crap; but in XIV one small quest, a few gil (which you get from a quest) and you're over in another city with little to no trouble. It's much like GW2; you're race determines where you start but all other areas are a gate away, no quest.

If however they made you walk at level 1 to the other nation; then it would be much worse IMHO.

Like Final Fantasy XI, the game specs will be extremely high for the time, but in about 5 years, an average machine can run it on max settings with little to no issues. Tanaka also expressed interest in making a benchmark program available.
