No, really, I can't wait. I Hope I get Beta Access. I don't even care if that stuff doesn't get saved, I jst want to play... then on my PS3... OOOOOOO BOOOYYYYYY.

Anyone else feel this way or am I complete mark?

I came from FFXI in April and the changes to the game have been like honey. I am really excited to see how this plays out. I don't even care, they can fresh coat it and leave it the way it wasin October for 1.0 and Ill be happy.

It's nice to be excited, but please don't wind yourself up too much.

Overhype is the best way to set yourself up for great disappointment. A lot of features they're working on for A Real Reborn likely won't be ready for release and some things some people are leary about (Armory system for example) are saunchly not going anywhere at all.

It's always good only to remain open minded and semi-optimistic.

FFXIV will not meet player expectations. Period. We as a gaming culture ritiualisticly overinflate them, and that needs to change. SE, and Yoshida's Team still have a tremendous challenge ahead of them. And while I wish them luck, I will not hold it against them if they do not hit it out of the park on their first swing. A bunt to first base will be enough for me - just lay the groundwork for a game that will last.

In the end, try not to expect more than a "New" Vanillia version of the game.

Especially with this player base. Defines the term "Damned if you do, damned if you don't".

Agreed. Which is why my definition of "This game survives" is if it maintains even a small player base and continues development. Free to Play optional as I've seen it work well for specific titles.

Personally, the only thing this game needs for it to succeed for me is to have a gripping story. The Dalamud storyline for the Grand Company quests exceeded that expectation by creating a story that I enjoyed with gameplay I had more fun doing than in most other games - and this was with a broken client and server structure.

That gives me some hope for the game's future in the things I care about. Though I still want to pitch my crafting idea.

I'm certainly looking forward to finally getting a taste of this game whenever it gets released on the PS3. I mean, ye gods, man. The long, sordid history of this game, the cataclysm that was the launch, the painful redemption the new team is putting it through, I have to experience this game for myself. I may never fully understand what 1.0 was like, but I have to see where this road ends. If you can say nothing else, they're putting a ridiculous amount of work into the game.

So yes, color me excited. However, knowing that it is going to be quite some time before the PS3 version launches makes it easy to curb my enthusiasm. With the development team two months behind, a PS3 release is likely several months away, and I just can't be bouncing off the walls in manic jubilation for that length of time. I'd have to triple my carbohydrate intake to keep up that level of energy.

I am with you. The ONLY thing I am worried about with 2.0 is the class/job system :(. In 1.0 I was worried about... most things... lol. But I am soooo excited for 2.0 and I just want to play now!! Now they are two months behind :'(. Oh well... I guess if it makes the launch perfection it is necessary right?

But I do want beta access really badly because the wait is too long for me to handle!

I'm also incredibly excited, I played 1.0 from CE to about mid-2011. Lived through skilling and fatigue and no end game. However, the original hype I had for 1.0 helped me ride out the terrible-ness of the original launch. Sort of expecting the same kind excitement, my want for 14 to be great is what gave the rose-colored glasses needed to play through that garbage.

Reading the 14 forums, this is a definitely a "what have you done for me lately?" crowd. Also, considering that ARR is an a unique position of not only having to cater to a brand new incoming crowd but also to people who have 50s in every single category.

I do think that the new comers, especially PS3 users, will be excited and surprised. But the people who stayed playing, have 10 50s, they'll be the ones who are never satisfied

I'm keeping my expectations reasonable.

It'll be nice if the game has a deep storyline, engaging battle, a fun job/class system, and slightly improved maps.

It'll be an enormous success to me if the menus open in milliseconds instead of seconds. Full, long, miserable seconds, waiting for the server to stupidly load whatever dynamic content it wants to load.... (They really needed to talk to Google about pre-fetch technology.)

I am also super excited. I've been waiting on the PS3 release for a long time now. I'm trying not to be in the "just f'n release it already" camp. I know that's what killed 1.0, so I'm trying really hard to 'sit on my hands' if ya know what I mean Smiley: grin
