So, i been wondering for a while... when beta starts and our characters transfer over.

It was said we get a character name change, and a re-customization with the new system. Does that include the ability to select a new server?

Was just curious :P

I hope so. Given that servers will begin to have data centers in different regions of the world. My server is (was?) one of the highest Japanese population, and I'd like to move somewhere that is a bit more NA-friendly.

I think he said that at the start our servers would be locked down and only new ones opened for new characters/ps3 players/new players to join. After that it would be assessed and determined if a server transfer option would be available.

I personally hope they allow it. I would love to join a new one regardless of region and be there to help out the new people.

Like Final Fantasy XI, the game specs will be extremely high for the time, but in about 5 years, an average machine can run it on max settings with little to no issues. Tanaka also expressed interest in making a benchmark program available.

You don't want to help out the newcomers, you want to dominate their market.
If they want help, they are free to join old servers anyway, so what's the point.

Rude much? Are you this way in real life or just when you type? Having a bad hair day? Didn't have breakfast?

Anyways...your thoughts are bit less important than you think they are. You honestly don't know El's motives...why not assume the best and not the worst?

lay off.

What he/she is asking for is nonsense, since any new player may join one of the old servers anyway.

Just re-read your post. You are in attack mode. No real need for that around here...IMO.

No idea why I defending Elionara...but I do know as much about her/his motives as you do. Very little.

They said they won't allow current characters to transfer to any of the new or old servers right away. Maybe a while after launch they will but its been said a few times that there won't be any character transfers at launch. Current players can make a new character on one of the new player only servers though so if you wanna play with the noobs you must first become a newb yourself.

BTW Rinsui I sub-defaulted you. Don't know if it matters to you or not but thought I'd let you know cause I've never sub-defaulted anyone before so yay for me.

He could have exercised a bit more tact, but the point has been raised more than a few times on these boards already and Elionara has been here long enough to have seen the argument already. Allowing old players to transfer to new servers would cause complications due to the hundreds of millions of gil that would potentially follow them. Not just that, but add to it the gear discrepancy and the crafting skills and you put new players at a severe disadvantage.

If you wanted to help players on new servers, there isn't anything stopping you from re-rolling on a new server.

BTW ScaryTrees I un-sub-defaulted Rinsui(dreaded double hyphen) because I'd never done it before. Don't know if it matters to you or not but thought I'd let you know cause I've never un-sub-defaulted anyone before so yay for me too.

Also rated up Simool for taking a 'bad hair day' cheapshot at an asian person. Yay for stereotypes! Yay also for analogtypes.

I'm not saying it SHOULD matter, but let's pause for a moment to think about what sub-default actually means...

It means that no one (even if it is only out of 100 ppl) was able to find anything remotely redeeming about your statement. If fact, not only did it lack any redeeming content, but it drew enough ire for people to actively engage in trying to make it disappear.

So basically, your comment was about as valuable as a steaming pile of horse sh*t. WAIT- scratch that. Horse sh*t is actually more valuable than your comment. Dogs have been known to eat horse sh*t because it contains vitamins, minerals, and other forms of undigested nutrients that have some redeeming value for the dog (not saying I personally agree with the concept, but it works for the dogs...).

So, tl;dr, the comment in question is composed of less than sh*t; Sub-sh*t if you will. And maybe that doesn't matter to you, buuuut. A wise man once said... If you meet 3 or more @$$h0les in one day.... IT"S NOT THEM!

Have a nice day :)

Edit: At the time of this reply, the comments in question were currently "default", but I suspect this is only due to Filth rating them up to attempt to needle ScaryTrees. FEEL THE LOVE PEOPLE!

With his 50 ghost accounts, I figure.
Look, boyo. That Elionora guy brough up the same asinine argument that was dismantled in a series of discussions he/she actively participated in on the official forum, here, and possibly elsewhere. Moreover, I pointed out that his/her argumentation lacks a logical foundation, because new players are free to join any server they want to anyway if they want to. So if THAT's not enough for him/her, I naturally come to question the altruism behind his/her intentions, as - at least according to the impression I obtained on the official forums - quite a few others do.

So if the same people come up with the same idiotic and disproven arguments over and over, I naturally call those arguments asinine. And I will do so again. And care a rat's *** about what self-proclaimed defenders of the not-so-innocent-at-all like you think about it. And now do me a favor and press the red button of righteous fury.

Not entirely sure how veterans could help us, the gimp gear mardi gras, without jeapordizing our sense of ground break exploration. Anything we'll need from them, important recipes, gear locations, etc., will be a forum click away. So thank you for that.

Helping out with a rerolled character is entirely acceptable. For those of you we'll see you in game :-)

Honestly, and I mean this in all sincerity- I didn't even remember what the original argument was about when I wrote my post. I just felt like giving you a hard time because the tone of your posts was irritating to me. At least Filth is funny... you just tend to be self-righteous and annoying. Soooo, I made a post to bust your balls in a good-natured and humorous way. But you felt the need to defend your position and your right to have an opinion (which I never called into question in the first place- I just said that it sucked... which is my opinion, and apparently the opinion of others as well...) So, here we have yet another classic example of a person who claims they don't care about the opinions of those on internet forums, yet types walls of extremely serious text defending their position whenever someone disagrees with their opinion.

tl;dr Feel free to "be right". I don't care enough to argue with you. I honestly didn't care all that much when I made the other post. I was just making an observation.

Who mentioned anything about discovering the truth? You are taking this way too seriously. All I said was that the general consensus seems to be that you are @$$hat. It's just an observation at a glance. No science, no deep underlying meaning. Just the fact that if enough people say "hey, that's a duck", it's probably a duck...

I didn't rate him up to needle anyone. I rated him up because regardless of the 'tone' of the post, it does have merit. Common sense isn't so common these days and it seems people's memory is far shorter than either Rin or my own patience.

If you can wrap your head around the logic behind SE's decision to shrink the economy then it should be easy to understand why they wouldn't allow old players to transfer to new servers.

ChaChaJaJa wrote:

Perhaps we should shift the focus of the topic. I'm much more interested in how beating a dead horse produced a steaming pile of ****. Let's investigate... for science!

The rating system seems to be more detrimental than helpful. Too many people playing nice and fishing for rate-ups. Too many people defaulting posts simply cause they disagree with the point. The forum would be better without it, and people would be more.. honest.

Dropping forum ratedown bombs is serious business.

Honestly though it always seemed more novelty here on ZAM then some other gaming sites I've been on. And being, albeit, mostly a spectator of the old sylph server forums back in the day, I think the forum anarchy will really take off once the game is rereleased. Blistthreads of gaming brother/sisterhoods of love.
