No joy here either Smiley: frown

Just a reminder to those who did get in, remember the NDA and while we are excited for you, make sure you don't do anything here to break it. I haven't gotten to click the nuke Smiley: dnp in a while and my trigger finger is itchy Smiley: tongue

if it would help you, Wint, I could pretend to have an Alpha invite and spread spoilers that don't exist!

Truth is, I did not apply for Alpha. I will for Beta but I've got too much going on at home to help with organized tests, where as Beta is a bit more of a playtest environment. I'd be doing other people a disservice to apply for a slot I wouldn't be able to use much.

Didn't that application also include the Beta test on it too? Or is there a separate application for the beta test? I thought they were the same and based on how you answered the questions you were picked or not for one and then again for the other. I know I would never be picked for an Alpha Test because of what Hyrist said. Same thing for a Beta. I could play at my own time and be more productive. We will see. If anything I can work on my Business while I'm not playing FFXIV: ARR, lol.

But I am secretly hoping that my Email, starting with, "W" is at the bottom of the list and they decided to go to bed and send me my invite when they wake up, which is what, in a few hours from now? lol,

As I understand it if you have applied for Alpha you don't need to reapply for Beta for PC. However if you want to join the PS3 Beta, then you will have to apply again. Also, being in the Alpha does not guarantee spot in Beta. That is how I read it anyway.

Good luck to all of you who applied, make sure to give a lot of feedback so the rest of us can join a great game when the time comes! :)

I didn't bother applying this time around, I still have the horrible taste of v1.0's alpha and beta in my mouth. Is it better this time around, more than likely, but I'll just wait for the final product this time.

I was wondering about this as well. I think I remember reading that the Alpha application would also be used for Beta apps as well.

Ahh, here it is. Scroll down to Beta Testers Application: Alpha and Beta apps

I'll be playing the game on my PC, but I'd like to get in on the PS3 beta if I can't do the PC one, that way I can at least see the world and get used to it a little bit before I go get the PC version. Here's to hoping, and good luck to all you guys waiting on Alpha emails ^^

So I've been importing email from my old Gmail account into my new Gmail account, and I thought it was done so when I saw an email from SE saying that account options had been added to my FFXIV service I had a moment of Smiley: yippee until I realized the email was dated 2010 Smiley: motz

Beta Tester Applications
- Details for the Beta Test will be announced at a later date.
- The PlayStation 3 Beta Test will start in conjunction with the PC Beta Test.
- Testers that participated in the Alpha Test do not need to resubmit an application during beta tester recruitment.
* A new round of tester selection will be held for the Beta Test. Participation in the Alpha Test does not guarantee selection for the Beta Test.
* New applications are required for alpha testers who wish to take part in the PlayStation 3 Beta Test.

I think this covers the questions we are having. Thanks for the link.

No, see I haven't applied for either yet because my understanding of it was that if you applied it was one application for PC.

I do not want to participate in the Alpha testing so I'm waiting a bit longer to apply. I know this hampers my chances in the long run but I'd rather not waste the spot during a time in my life I wouldn't be able to fill their requests as easily as I want to.

And yes, you're free to turn me into a Good Guy Hyrist meme anytime you want to. >.>

Considering the alpha and beta killed any excitement I had for the launch, I'll pass. I was actually excited up until launch, when I saw that they hadn't really made any significant changes. If I were to play it now, I'm sure I'd get the same disappointment. Fact is, SE has always been too slow at fixing things for me. If I had started playing FFXI five years ago instead of when it came out, it's sad to imagine how much more of an amazing experience it probably would have been. In fact, I'm hesitant to even play FFXIV at launch. Maybe I'll just wait til it has a couple of more years to polish up.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

I have a friend that has a cousin that has a friend that said... um... I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMAN! um, and stuff...

Congrats to those who got in and condolences to those who didn't, but wanted to. If I read things right on the Lodestone the NA/EU Alpha portion is only for a few days anyway... assuming the client is a few GB it could be over before some people even have it fully downloaded depending on how SE is distributing the files this time around.

Just wondering, I know the NDA is enforced on the official forums, but why here?

I'm all for it, but the question stands.

We enforce the NDA for any game we associate ourselves with. We like to keep our relationship with Square-Enix on healthy footing, and that includes following their rules.

The NDA isnt restricted to the official forums it basically says you cant talk about it anywhere online or in person to anyone except the official alpha testing forums and in the actual alpha test. Other websites probably dont care but that doesnt mean it wont get back to SE and they revoke your testing privilages (unlikely but still possible).

The good news is, that if ARR flops there's a great back catalogue of exclusives to make it worth while ^.^

It is probably a good thing I didn't get an invite based on Yoshi's latest letter (XXXIX). I would have gone in expecting to experience the whole world quests and all. I would have been judging the games future based on the current state. I might not have come back for beta and possibly later.

Anyone know a way of double checking that you did actually register to play Alpha/Beta? I know that I filled out a form the day it came out but never passed another thought on it until these next set of invites were sent out. Is there any way of checking you did register through your account or something?

Simply try to apply again. They'll tell you an application has already been submitted for the account.
