Greetings everyone!
For those of you who don’t know me from the Lodestone Forums, this is Fernehalwes—translator of tomes, lover of lore, and as of today, poster of posts here on the developers’ blog! From now until the launch of A Realm Reborn (and hopefully well beyond), I and my trusty partner-in-crime, the mysterious and lovely project manager ‘M’, will be bringing you irregular updates on the inner workings of the FINAL FANTASY XIV development team. This includes, but is most definitley not limited to, office tours, interviews, and lots of blurry photographs of cluttered booths and overworked programmers.
Speaking of blurry photos, why, here are a few of our soon-to-be-released Official Benchmark program!

I wonder what the specs are of that laptop and the final score they got.

Did anyone say when soon was? I think they're speculating on the official forums that they will probably release it when the Alpha ends.

Sounds good. I can't wait to run it on my system and see what I get. I'm impressed that the benchmark was even able to run on a laptop. I ran the 1.0 benchmark on a laptop and nearly destroyed it...

Kudos to them updating the blog 2 days later. Let's hope the information keeps coming out at that rate, even if he did say "irregular" in the post. Smiley: smile

Eh? I was playing 1.0 with only a few things toned down on a 670m, the old benchmark ran ok but wasn't anything to write home about.

There are quite a few laptops out now with good GPUs for under 1K USD (until you start upgrading stuff on them and add tax ;) )

Didn't yoshi-p say something about wanting to release the first of two benchmarks by the end of the year during his last letter from the producer live? I could be mistaken, but I could have sworn that's what they said.

Now that you mention it I seem to recall something along those lines...

2 years ago, I spent about $1500 on a new rig because the original alpha ate my processor.
This sucker better be able to handle this one...lol

My current rig is a desktop with a 3.2 ghz quad-core phenom, 16 gb of ram and nvidia 470. I have never had any issues running any game on mostly high settings (except Final Fantasy XIV 1.0). I hope 2.0 is coded better. If so, my current rig should be plenty to run with high settings.

I Ran a:
i5-3570K Intel
8 GB (2x4GB) Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 660ti

Ran the 1.0 benchmark 6 points under the top scoring section (dont remember the number) So anything comparable / slightly below should be adequate.
