PS3 BETAFollow

Hello,

I was just wondering if there had been any mention as to how the PS3 Beta will work for FFXIV ARR, as with FFXI on the PS2 they sent out a HDD and the discs to the people testing on the PS2.

Also i had a code from registering FFXIII which i have used to complete my beta application, does this guarantee a spot in the PS3 beta or a higher chance to be in the PS3 beta?

thanks,
D

No work from on high yet, other than the PS3 beta will begin in Phase III.

I assume that the beta itself will be available as DLC.

Yea we'll probably receive a code to put in the PS store to download it, usually how beta's work on the PS3.

A little of topic but fits the title well. Just in case there is someone that does not have access to the roadmap released late last year.

Phase 1: 2-4 weeks
Phase 1 debug: 1-2 weeks
Phase 2: 1-3 weeks
Phase 2 debug: 1-2 weeks
Phase 3 (PS3 beta starts): 1-3 weeks
Phase 3 debug: 1-2 weeks
Phase 4 (open beta): 1-2 weeks

So with a Phase 1 start date of 2/25/13 and a projected maximum of 11 weeks before phase 3 starts it should be no later than 5/13/13 for PS3 beta to start. This of course is assuming that everything stays on schedule and all phases last the maximum length of time stated above.

I know it's probably against the NDA but I'm curious as to how phase 1 is progressing in terms of time. Has there been any info released on this yet? It's been almost two weeks so I'm assuming it will probably last at least another 2 more. There has been a blackout on new info since the beta started and it would be nice to see how things are going in a general sense. Are we as the general public going to know when they are officially ending/beginning phases or is it just going to be a complete blackout until the open beta?

looking at the time frame I don't know why they're willing to push the ps3 to its limits? I have a suspicion this is going to be a ps4 title! We know the Ps4 is going to be cross platform as far as taking your saved game off ps4 and picking up on your laptop. Everything the recent articles have mentioned about what they expect from this game falls in line with what Sony recently said about what the ps4 will achieve!

Except that the guy in charge of the game has already specifically said his priority is PS3. He has further stated he would entertain PS4 later down the line.

I assume they'll announce the start of phase II at the very least, because they plan on bringing in more testers at that point.

I recall reading somewhere that we'll have to buy our own copy of the game for PS3 testing. If it isn't in the "official" timeline, I'm not sure where it is. Hopefully I read it wrong.

Nananana. That would be stupid.

Yeah I don't think they would do that, I've done a few PS3 betas and they usually give you a code you redeem and it downloads the game for you. Now you will need to buy a copy of the PS3 version if you want to play it at launch, even if you already own the PC version.

That is what I read too.. I cant find it it might have been on the actual application. It said ps3 beta testers would be required to buy a copy of the game.

You DO NOT need to buy the client for the PS3 beta...

http://entry.ffxiv.com/beta/detail_na.html

Only requirements for PS3 testers are that a) you have a PS3 and b) it can connect to the internet.

I'm already signed up if they are still honoring the keys that came with FFXIII for the FFXIV PS3 beta.

It's been, what, only 3 years since I've been waiting.

I did the same, i signed up for PS3 in the first beta, also upgraded to a larger HDD in the ps3 so that i know i would have enough space to install it, then it never came.
I really hope they do give higher priority to people with the FFXIII code like they are saying on the beta sign up page.

http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/download/en/FFXIV_2.0_BETA_Roadmap_EN.pdf It states on the official roadmap , in the phase 4 part, that you are required to buy the PS3 client . My interpretation of this is people who bought the original game can download the PC version for free but have to buy a copy for PS3 if they intend to play on that system as well after it launches.

Okay, so in Phase 4 you'll have to have already bought the game. (Hopefully they have the disks out by then.)

Phase III will probably have a smaller, free DLC client, however. They can't press the disks until they know for sure that the product works, after all.

Commercial ARR client is the official release. How can you buy the game for a ps3 beta if there is nothing on the shelves to buy?

Exactly... no where does it state you have to buy the PS3 version for the beta. It states when the game officially launches people who paid for v.1.0 will get a PC download for free, but if they want to play on PS3 they will have to buy the PS3 version.

Yep. I was just further clarifying, since there are some that seem to still be confused over the ordeal. *high five*

Why would you need to buy the PS3 version to play the PS3 beta? That's like saying you need to buy a PC version of something to play the beta. When has this ever happened? (Excluding FFXIV's first release where it was less then beta quality, but was still dubbed a release.) That's just silly :P You guys are a bunch of silly gooses.
