I'm sure this question gets asked a lot but does this error mean I can't play the game at all? I played FFXI for many years, never picked up FFXIV because I heard about all the bugs and general grumbling about it. Ordered it this week, installed last night and now I'm getting the error saying that it's not playable and to uninstall the client. Did I just get completely ripped off?

Is the only thing playable right now the beta? Seriously...wtf is going on?

Nevermind....found the answer. Guess I should have read up on all the drama from the last year and not expected SE to not have their heads up their butts. I assumed the bugs would have been fixed by now....not that the game would have been shut down all together. Disc makes for a cool looking coaster.

You will still be able to play the new xiv a realm reborn with your current xiv game. You wont have to go buy it again. And yea its out there for months that the game will shut down.

Even though i didn't play the 1.0 version from what i hear SE did the world a favor to shut it down and remake the game from the ground. I only hope that SE will deliver and make a great game.Nevertheless when the game is out i will be there to try it.

That's good info at least. Do you know if I would be able to play in the beta with the serial code?

No, you can sign up but only those that are legacy players get instantly accepted into the beta. The rest apply and hope to get accepted in the beta.

When it becomes open beta, everyone is welcome, aside from that you can apply for the beta and hope to be picked. The only users guaranteed for early beta are legacy members.

Damn you post fast.

Ok, signed up for the beta with the code I have. Has SE said anything about when the open beta might start for PC/PS3? I signed up for both (PC with code, PS3 without).

I used the serial code that came with FFXIV in the box. Maybe it was just the activation for the game when it was still online and has nothing to do with what they're asking for. Really not sure, just entered what I had. It would seem fair to let people that bought FFXIV and have a code play in the beta, but I'm late on all of this so not sure how the whole story has evolved.

...and I just noticed a registration number on the back of the manual. That's probably the one I should have used.

Ps3 will come into beta at phase 3. There is a roadmap somewhere that shows the plan.. I am far to lazy this early in the morning to find it myself. But I expect by the time I post this Tera will have it up already Haha okay here it is

Phase 4 will be open beta, if nothing else.

Not so bad then. If the phase timeline doesn't shift to the right then I guess May/June timeframe for open Beta.

Sorry ya missed the fun Eriston but with all of the improvements it should be a much better game when re-released. I wasn't able to get a new PC to play it until a couple months ago so I missed the 1.0 boat as well >.<.

Well, you won't have to buy a copy of "A Realm Reborn" as long as you have the registration code for 1.0.

Consider yourself pre-ordered.

People who already has the game registered but arent legacy can be certain for a spot in beta 3. Beta 4 is open for everyone.

Yep but there are also the people like the OP and me as well that have the games and an unused code that can't register at the moment due to registration being closed. So i am guessing we wont get a shot in the beta 3. ;/
