Any news if racial stats are staying the same? Follow

Even within the 2 races? I was watching the Beta vid for character creation and notice there wasn't a stat display for Seeker of the Moon and Seeker of the Sun. So wondering if they dropped it? I tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Thanks

Racial stats aren't going to be important.

I know, but I'm still curious if they will be implemented, especially if they're going to be as unimportant as you say.

No. All races = equal stats

This makes me kind of sad. I've always liked how certain races had different stats. I felt it let you personalize your character even more, picking a race that compliments your favorite jobs. I guess it might have made it harder for a taru or galka, but they always seemed to do just fine with the right itemization. However you'd never see me out there with my elvaan sporting a pointed hat and slinging nukes.

The Galka MNK in our Abyssea party tonight had over 4,000 HP. As a Taru WHM, I had over 2K HP and 2K MP. By the time our fight was over, I had 72 HP left just trying to keep the big guy out of yellow. Smiley: laugh

I agree.

I think that having different stats (especially having a starting city ring) can sway people into the "correct" race, lore-wise, for the class/job.

You can be a Taru/lalafel tank; its very doable, though just not as optimal.

Needless to say, I wish that there were a bit more distinction between the races in this realm. I think that there was nothing wrong with how FFXI handled it and I'm sad to have seen these sorts of starting stats go by the wayside.

When I played FFXI (Zilart to Goddess), I always kept getting passed over for groups, because I was an Elvaan who played mostly BLM or SMN. The racial stats in FFXI pre-merits were so debilitating that groups would actively not invite "non-optimal" race/job combinations, and while it sucked, because that's why I stopped playing FFXI (I couldn't get into parties, think my highest job hit level 71) seeing my numbers against a taru BLM or SMN with similar equipment was very disappointing. There really was a huge difference at mid-high level (55-74) between what an elvaan BLM could do, and what a taru BLM could do, and no amount of itemization could overcome it.

I'm actually glad the races will not have stat differences this time.

I was hoping they would keep race changes, but just not make it that drastic of a difference. Maybe 1 or 2 points most. I know it seems pointless, and would be, but it's just a nice little "perk"? I can't think of the right word at the moment and gives a bit more difference between the races.

I don't really mind that people were used to it from FFXI. I can understand though, why it wouldn't be implemented this time. I mean, it would make sense from a biological stand point if the male and female were different in stats. Regardless of whatever people may say, it would be perfectly logical if they made the female versions 30-50% weaker STR wise than their male counterpart. It's probably best to just keep everything androgynous across races. If they release new jobs later that you may like, It would be annoying to discover that your race is the worst at using it effectively.

Who told you that nonsense?
There are racial difference, and there are clan differences.
Ever so slight, and completely negligible after LV 5, but they exist just fine.
They are so small you don't really have to care, but they are there "for the flavor" nonetheless.
There's even a detailed table listing the differences here:
