Not sure if these have been posted on ZAM yet , but thought I'd share them for people like me who are looking for anything new about this game. These all have the SE copyright at the bottom of each picture so I assume they are officially released by SE. I found them at this site with a "review" about the UI. Mods feel free to nuke any part of this post if need be .

Those appear to be media assets so fair game as far as I'm concerned. I did clean up your post just a bit, hope you don't mind Smiley: smile

Yea these are official. The first two are from the "threats" section of the website. Second two are in the "world" section but I could be wrong about that part.

Don't mind at all , looks more organized. The snow area looks like it's in Coerthas to me, one of my favorite zones from 1.0. I loved just roaming around that area and can't wait to see how they remade it for 2.0.

That sankakucomplex article is an epitome of unbiased journalism, nice source.

For Wint, the article is filled with (afaik) NDA-breaking screenshots... so linking the site might be a bad thing?

Not too sure about some of the other ones on the site I linked to. But I assume that site is considered "media" and I use that term very loosely in regards to their "review."

I was debating weather to include the link as they seem to have a negative view of SE altogether(also for the NSFW part). But most of the people who responded to the review had negative views of the review. Sorry about that Wint. Smiley: blush

No worries, I wasn't blocking the link because of the negativity but because of the images themselves. I haven't read it yet to be honest so I really had no idea what was in it other than screenshots that aren't allowed. Smiley: thumbsup

I love snow levels in any game. I know it's probably the easiest type of level design but the imagination and scenery you can have with the snow is endless. If done right they can look really amazing.

FFXI's snow area was great. Can't wait for this.

Also, that article was about the "bad" UI. From the battle screens SE has shown us I would say it looks fine....as long as they implement an "auto-hide" function for the actions like in 1.0. If those action bars are "always on" then yes, I might be a little irritated.

One thing to remember with the UI is it's fully customizable, and they're planning on having addons which haven't even been implemented yet. Smashing the game now for the UI smacks of a reviewer who didn't even play with the configuration or isn't even in the beta.

I'm hoping the UI is actually fully customizable and not just movable and hideable. e.g., completely resizable, color changes, and backdrop options.

My problem with the UI is not that it's too much (though it is) but that the lack of a background and the vivid colors used in the displays just vomit all over the gorgeous scenery. Too much contrast and it makes it hard to read. I'd rather have a non-transparent UI backdrop that makes the game look like it's being run in a Windower.

The thing I hate most is all the enemy data. It's important to be able to see the information, but the way they have it ruins the scenery. I hope it's at least down to a keystroke to toggle on/off.

What'd be really cool is a smart UI that can be set up to only display when needed. e.g., your connectivity is only displayed if it dips, ally HP is only displayed if it's low, etc.

Saw what looked like a scythe in one of the screenshots. Got excited. Just a bow. -_-

I actually won't entertain any negative comments about the UI in all reality because it is 100x better than the one found in 1.0. I will say those pictures however of battle damage do wash out the screen a lot. If the "corona" of a damage to a mob is that big then once 3-7 people start hacking away you'll have no idea what's even gong on. I'd like to see them simply take the size of the lens flare for battle effects and using a slider scale it back to about 1/2 or 1/4 the size. Then it'll be just a little "boom" in the stomach or chest of the mob.

Me too... I was ZOMG until I looked at it full sized. Hopefully someday.

A smart UI does sound amazing, but I can answer that the UI is movable and resizable. You can change font colors, sizes, even the font itself I believe. I'm sure with addons you'll be able to change even more like add different borders, backgrounds, etc.

Maybe a certain ZAM mod can come up with something for the G19 keyboard that can move something from the UI onto it's screen? I'm not a very tech savvy person so not sure if that's doable or not. Also has anyone here tried one of the Madcatz STRIKE 7 keyboards? http://www.madcatz.com/strike7/ Looks interesting.

In particular I'm wondering about the customization of certain elements, like unit HP and level. Can I change the color and size of the enemy HP bar and level? Because that's probably the most egregious UI fail for me.

That sounds like the kind of thing an addon would be for.
