I was hoping someone here could answer my questions. My situation is as follows -
I was given a buddy pass for FFXIV 1.0 Standard Edition back in the day.
I did not pay for a subscription, so I do not qualify for legacy status.
The existing FFXIV 1.0 Standard Edition service account is attached to my main Square Enix account management identy.
I played exclusively on the PC as I do not own a ps3.
A few days ago, I pre-ordered the Ps3 Collectors Edition from Amazon.com. I already received my early acess code from Amazon.com.
My plan originally was to pre-order the Ps3 Collectors Edition from Amazon. Then when early access launched, either use the early acess code I was provided or my existing FFXIV 1.0 Standard Edition account to download the PC version of the game. Then apply the Collectors Edition codes to my existing account from the Ps3 Collectors Edition to upgrade my account.
However, from what I've read in the forums, I'm in a bit of a pickle because I have an existing FFXIV 1.0 standard edition account and the physical Collectors Edition codes cannot be used to upgrade an existing FFXIV account, unless I order the Digital Upgrade to collectors edition.
My questions are -
Can I download the PC client using the early access code Amazon provided me? Even though I pre-ordered the Ps3 CE?
I realize I could pre-order the PC CE from Square Enix, but I prefer to do my business with Amazon.com in this case and they only offer the Ps3 CE pre-order.
Will I need to create a new Square Enix account to apply the C.E codes? Or can I delete the exiting FFXIV account first?
I was planning on starting over, so loosing my existing character is not a concern. However, I would like to avoid having to buy a Digital Upgrade to play on the PC if I already pre-ordered the Ps3 Collectors Edition.
