Pardon my ignorance.
I'm about to start the BETA tonight. I know my character data will be deleted when phase 3 closes; but will I be able to recreate my character when ARR goes live with the same name?

I would think so since they are deleted characters created in Phase 3 but I'm sure someone will come in here and give you a definite answer.
They let you save the character profile so I'm sure you can ressurect him easily enough.
As I understand it, there is no guarantee that you can keep the name. However if you have save the character profile (appearance creation) you can quickly grab the name in phase 4 (where the data will be kept to live).
I also don't think that's going to be an issue unless you want an extremely popular name. I'm running around as Erza Scarlett right now and I'm frankly surprised I managed to grab it - when I was in a previous beta phase there were 3-4 other characters from Fairy Tail all running around (I saw a Gray Fullbuster and went "oh now THAT'S a good idea") which is why I'm using that persona for the beta.
