Beta veterans: What can we expect for the rest of Phase 3?Follow

Hey all,

This pesky guy asking questions again :-)

Now - I was quite impressed, relatively, with how well the servers held their own in a beta environment. Certainly Friday had some issues, but things seemed to roll from DEFCON 1 to DEFCON 5, if you catch my drift, quite flawlessly and rather quickly.

I'm just curious as to what happens during the next beta phases, from your experience or insight:

  • Do invite codes continue to be sent? I have a couple of friends who had signed up for the beta from the website (albeit not being former 1.0 owners or anything) and did not get a code. Could they expect to have one before "Phase 3 Test 2", meaning, does this usually happen?
  • Do patches come out within a beta phase, or do they gather and fix / tweak issues only when the phase is completed? I'd love to see some added map functionality, for instance (namely, the circle telling you where to go for a quest being blue instead of dark orange, or something which could help us differentiate it from the map colours)
  • We should expect Test 2 to be next weekend, right?

As always, thanks a lot for your replies and insight, much appreciated! =)

Invites go out throughout the beta usually.

A patch is usually downloadable the day before the phase is to start (so Thursday usually).

Normally the tests happen at the same time so yes, probably Friday again, but I suggest checking the beta forums for details. If you click on the Dev Tracker button on the right side of the english forums from the main page, you can see all of the admin posts that usually have information from the Devs.

In the past testing was done every weekend the phase was live. So as long as we're in P3, you should see one every weekend, and then at some point they'll open it up this phase for stability testing (keeping the servers up for more than 72 hours).

It depends on the company needs. If they need more testers, more codes. If they have a satisfactory base, then no codes. Typically, though, more eyes on the product, more chances to see issues

Patches are standard with Beta phases as they fix issues and test their resolution. For added features, be sure you are posting in the official beta forums with those suggestions. They aren't going to take every suggestion, but anything they see as a feature useful to users they will consider adding.

Should be, could be, maybe. We will find out when it gets announce. Betas tend to go at their own pace, but typically they fall into a schedule just by habit.
