for those who have been doing this beta for a while.... since the beta is only on weekends... when it goes down for the next 5 days and comes back up, do you guys ever notice any changes when you play again the following weekend? (i mean i would assume theyre using those 5 days to fix or work on whatever was reported in the beta test).

There are a few changes, it's typically difficult to see most of them. Especially since their focus has been overloading the servers and seeing what issues can happen... Like people forming a line to complete lvl 15 class quests... Theoretically we should be seeing a largely finished product at this point. The best way to see what's going on is to follow the Dev Tracker in the beta forums, they'll tend to comment on things that'll give you an idea about what they're fixing and what's intended, and what's in the works.

Although I barely got to play the Beta stages, I noticed quite a few tweaks between the Alpha and Beta stages, and even more fine tuning coming into phase 3. Although I think their feedback forum could have been done better, compared to the 1.0 alpha/beta, they are taking a lot of the ideas to heart and making quicker updates. While I still think there are some minor things to work on, the true sign in my eyes that they are doing something right is that my wife logged in yesterday and ran through some quests on her own... Usually I have to beg and plead for her to play, and then I have to listen to her complaints about not knowing what she is doing. I came home from work yesterday and SHE was the one showing me what we needed to do (well I let her as I had ran through most of the content in Alpha lol).

My beef right now is that they should be broadening their data windows a bit... 48 hours seems a little reserved for this stage of testing (especially with how polished the majority of the content is)

Someday soon my friends, this ride will come to and end, and we can't just get in line again.

I have a question which I am not sure if it violates NDA or not. It's directed at people who played since 1.0

Do characters still have the original opening cutscenes for whatever city you started in?
Ship for Limsa, forest for Gridania, ride into the city on chocobo cart for Uldah.

I ask because I see someone on youtube possibly breaking the NDA with video. And it seems those have been replaced with a cgi cutscene for all cities.

one other things when youre making your SE FFXIV account for beta do they ask for CC information? (i know they dont charge you since its a beta but i would THINK they still wanna know that info anyway) if so can anyone confirm that the game does/will take american express?

When I had to make a EU beta account (before the code for my actual account came through) I was never asked for CC info. As for Amex cards being accepted I'm not entirely sure.
