Selling on the Market QuestionsFollow

I was wondering, first off, can you sell things on the Market board without a retainer? Secondly, can you unlock retainers by leveling a crafting class? I was hoping to craft a bunch when phase 4 started, but it looks like I might still have to level up a battle class before i can sell anything. >.<

Since you need to advance the main story line up to around LV20 to unlock access to retainers and the auction house,
there is no way to just craft & sell from the beginning. Which, in my humble opinion, is a smart way to stop RMTs, which
primarily rely on tedious and repetitive grinding to advance their fortunes.

Since even they will now have to clear the main story line before being able to interact with the economy in any way,
I guess half of China is pretty pissed off right now.

I understand the reasoning i suppose, but i could see RMTs leveling a few characters and then farming on others and simply trading the items to those that can sell them.

Unfortunately as stated, you need to complete main story quest until Waking Sand point to gain access to retainer, so you need around lvl 20 DoW/DoM to start buying/selling. The reason is not RMT, but rather the shift in focus from v1.0 to v2.0, with DoH/DoL no longer considered main classes. This is also reflective of the quests quality, so far up to lvl 20 DoH/DoL quests involve zero cutscenes unlike v1.0 which is disappointing.

After looking at some crafting lists I can also understand why it would be beneficial to have a Battle class leveled. It seems like a good bit of materials are found on monsters, which would probably be more difficult to obtain on a crafting class.

Of course. But the difference is: every time one of the "main" characters is busted, they have to start from 0
and manually complete the whole questline. What gilsellers normally do is to bot to max level in 1-2 days with
minimal manual labor involved. This allows them to max out several characters on several accounts at the
same time, thus overwhelming the GM task force with (largely automatized) "human wave attacks". This is
now impossible.

Don't get me wrong. I do see the potential inconvenience. But in reality, had no reason or time to browse
the marked board until LV 20 anyway, and since the "unlock" is a one-time affair for non-RMT players, I fail
to see the actual issue. Must be because I gladly postpone my weekly shopping trip as long as all RMT
characters burn in hell. Smiley: lol

I remember someone posting a picture of his workplace (RMT job). Several people controled many characters and they interchanged with each other, so the operation was going 24 hours daily.

And it builds from there.

I hope that the system at least works somewhat. I know that RMT will still be in the game even if you had to get to max level and get every piece of gear in the game before you could sell stuff. Maybe this will deter a good percentage of potential RMT groups though.
