How do you guys feel about them tacking on the pet? I already preordered a game I already get for free to get cait sith but i cant see myself spending 50$ for this one its not that great.

Also if this was maybe 20$-35$ i would jump all over it, but its just to high a price for me :(

yeah, $50 is a little steep, but on the same token that is a lot of music (over 5 hours?) which is pretty impressive. I have to say I am a little tempted as I love the new zone musics. They feel very alive and suited to the environments. Gonna have to think on this one a little.

Yea, I will likely whine if it does something cool, but really it does look fugly as hell.

Imagine if you wound it up and out popped a lil Bahamut though...

...

...... It doesn't do that, right?

To be clear, this Blu-Ray is before Meteor, so it's going to be the music from the original FFXIV. However, the CD with the new soundtrack does come with the Collectors Edition.

I'm not sure why I didn't ask this before, but...

Why does a soundtrack cost $50? Are they crazy?

$50 for 104 songs is crazy, $15 for 10 songs is okay.

0.5956730769230769 / song for me to order it. It's a very good deal. Of course numbnuts above you can't see the value beyond a piece of bread.

Also lolgaxe... where's your standard image response? ^^

Nah, $50 is way too much for this. Around $30 would be more reasonable. It is a Japanese import though so I'm guessing that's the reason behind the high pricing.

It's well within the industry average. Hell SE sold the original for 40 bucks; and people bought it (it had 9 songs as per Amazon). This is a far cry from that and very much reasonable. Journey had an excellent score to it as well.

The Last of Us soundtrack came with my pre-order. Great game and the music is pretty good.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssLAf5akbfU

I know you're trying to rationalize the FFXIV soundtrack by price per song but I just can't justify paying $50 for a video game OST.

Edited, Jun 26th 2013 11:51am by Killua125

Wait wait wait, The Last of Us GAME or this soundtrack? I thought you were debating The Last of Us soundtrack or this soundtrack. That is not even a question, The Last of Us is really an awesome game. Easily one of the best games on the PS3 and my favorite game this year, and it's also quite long. So much for your dollar.

You seem to be confused between what "rationalization" and "informed decision making" are. An informed decision is one where you look at the price, follow it up by looking at the quality and quantity of product offered for that price, and finally checking the industry standard pricing and decide whether or not it is worth the purchase or not. A rationalization is dismissing an item by looking at the price, and deciding "it's a crazy price" and "can't justify" with no other reason.

Actually, rationalizing is making an emotional decision, then trying to create a logical argument after the fact to justify that decision.

If some one fails to provide "any other reason" then they are not rationalizing, by definition. No attempt at an after the fact rational argument means no rationalization.

The order of events is hardly necessary, nor does it have to be logical. Just a rationale to justify the emotional decision. "$50 is crazy" works here. Now, an informed decision would be "the price is out of my comfort range," not insisting the seller was at fault for the customer's decision when the seller was, in fact, quite reasonable.

Actually, the order of events is an important part of rationalizing since the act itself is meant to offer an excuse of your behavior or decisions (as in maybe you haven't bought that CD yet, but you've already rationalized the decision to buy it in your head). But otherwise, rationalizing is when you ignore or conceal your actual motives and provide a reasonable sounding explanation to justify your actions and choices.
